Ok, I gotta out myself as a huge fan of this game. I mean.. How could I not celebrate something that presents itself with "Ultimate Annihilation of Bizarre Undead Armada"? And that with a typo in it?! I love this ♥♥♥♥. It's casual, it's trashy and satisfying. I come back to it for years. That's about it. See ya.
Fun little twin stick shooter. Achievements hunters beware! Collectibles drop depends purelly on rng and you can get dupes.. Hunting for last one of them might take eternity xD
🎯 Rating: 7.5/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐☆☆☆ 📜 Overview Larva Mortus is an action-packed top-down shooter with a strong focus on combat and survival, developed by Render Code. Set in a dark and eerie world, the game revolves around fighting off waves of grotesque enemies while exploring various creepy environments. Players assume the role of a character with unique abilities, hunting down monsters and solving environmental puzzles to progress. The game offers a variety of weapons and upgrades to help deal with the growing threats that lurk in every corner. 🌟 Pros ✅ Fast-Paced Combat – The gameplay is quick and intense, with players constantly under attack by hordes of enemies. ✅ Variety of Weapons – A range of weapons and power-ups is available to customize the combat experience. ✅ Atmospheric Design – The game features dark, gothic visuals and a fitting soundtrack that immerses players in its creepy world. ✅ Challenging Enemies – The monsters you face are diverse, adding strategic elements to the combat. ✅ Replayability – The randomized levels and challenging difficulty provide a reason to replay the game for those seeking higher scores or better upgrades. ⚠️ Cons ❌ Repetitive Gameplay – The combat can become monotonous over time, especially due to the similar environments and enemies. ❌ Limited Storytelling – While the atmosphere is strong, the game’s narrative is minimal, which may leave some players wanting more depth. ❌ Difficulty Spikes – The difficulty can be uneven, with sudden spikes that may frustrate players, especially in later levels. ❌ Lack of Innovation – The game doesn’t offer much beyond its basic premise, making it feel somewhat generic for action-horror fans. 💬 Player Sentiment Positive: Many players enjoy the intense combat and dark atmosphere, finding it fun for quick action-packed sessions. Negative: Some find the gameplay repetitive and the lack of a strong story to be disappointing. 🏆 Rating Breakdown 🕹️ Gameplay: 7/10 – The fast-paced combat is enjoyable but repetitive after a while. 🏰 Atmosphere & Design: 8/10 – Great visuals and sound design that create a spooky and immersive environment. 📖 Story: 5/10 – Minimal narrative, offering little in terms of plot or character development. 👹 Enemy Variety & Challenge: 7/10 – A diverse range of enemies adds variety to the combat, but difficulty spikes can be frustrating. 🎮 Overall Enjoyment: 7.5/10 – A solid game for action fans, but it can feel repetitive in the long run. 🎯 Final Verdict Larva Mortus is a fun, fast-paced shooter with a dark atmosphere and exciting combat. The lack of a deep story and some repetitive elements may make it feel shallow at times, but if you enjoy action-filled gameplay with monsters to defeat, it offers an enjoyable experience. The game is perfect for those who like short bursts of gameplay but may not hold up for long gaming sessions. If you’re looking for a quick action-horror fix, Larva Mortus can deliver, but its lack of innovation and storytelling depth might leave some players wanting more.
I'd say... It's OK. This is a top-down H&S game. The graphics are basic but decent. The music is not a big deal. The story is simple and pretty much a cliche, but I guess it goes well with the concept. Bugs, yeah, some... Mostly rooms you can't finish due to a monster that didn't spawn. The simple solution is to exit and come again inside the room. Near the end, you probably gonna need to exit and do the whole mission again if the boss didn't spawn. No crashes. Works fine on Win 10. Overall, it's entertaining, even if a grind fest of the worst kind. Leveling up is extremely time-consuming. There's a strategy that consists of entering a room with active destructive things and spam monsters using the "T" key. That comes pretty handy later in the game. It includes hard-to-get achievements and is cheap. I think you can play this for a few hours and get some fun out of it. It's not the best but far from the worst. Here comes a lukewarm recommendation.
Primitive and dull top-down shooter.
Great little game from 2009, recommend for sure but I took long way of grinding as per the hours I played but got to the point it was almost impossible to grind I think from around the 4million point mark so then just smashed out the main story which was actually really good to me. Very happy I brought this and played it, it reminds me of old flash games, this game is like 50 mb or something so come on people who are bagging it out, what you expect, clearly your not from old school gaming community and expect the world for such a tiny size LMFAO get real idiots. This game was fun and time happily spent playing it but it defiantly has its issues and some minor bugs that were annoying such as dying to re-spawn with no health and no health packs help then you die. Most annoying things I found is when grinding if you die multiple times all your experience goes like gone start over, frustrating to say the least and the difficulty is insane jump if you bump it up from easy to normal, completely unbalanced so I just played it on easy rather then be utterly angered by the jump which offers no extra experience that I found and tested, so was no reason to play on higher than easy and honestly was actually playable and enjoyable on easy which felt normal level for this game, normal was per above utterly broken balance wise.
It's a shame that this game wasn't updated anymore by adding new areas, enemies, weapons and new characters, for me it would have had incredible potential. Personally it's a must buy for horror fans and all top down shooter lovers but also for action lovers since you will also be able to use a mighty Zweihänder to kills various monstrosities, this sword is the gem of the game in my opinion. In this game we will play with a badass protagonist who will be blatantly reminiscent of a muscolar Van Helsing. The story is told by comic scenes in the style of Mike Mignola and his Hellboy. The intro of this game is very good for the time it was released with a truly horror movie soundtrack. Honestly today is a little rough looking but remains very enjoyable in its gameplay. It's probably one of the first top down shooter with small roguelike elements landed on Steam. 8/10
Another shovelware to avoid.
