abysmal rpgmaker puzzle/adventure. anything made in rpgmaker is gonna be subpar at best, but these people went above and beyond to make the experience even more tortorous. used to cost a ridiculous $10 but even half of the current $2 would be better spent elsewhere. a remake has been supposedly in the works since around 2017, not long after this came out (the price got lowered in 2018), so it's most likely dead by now, but fool me once and all that anyway.

There are plenty of things worth praising about Wanda. The characters are expressive, the story is heart-warming, and the minimalist style really lets the soundtrack shine. Unfortunately it's let down by the lack of story interaction, and the unskippable cutscenes. Having played plenty of story-based games like visual novels, I get it. It's sometimes necessary to slow down and get the "intended experience" . But it's pretty annoying when you sit around watching a cutscene for 10 minutes and then the game freezes up afterwards with no saves since before the last puzzle. There *is* gameplay in here, but not a lot. More importantly, none of it is ever truly relevant to the story, ultimately feeling like a webcomic with some puzzle elements chucked in.
This game gave me back my faith in games made with RPGMaker — it's charming, beautiful, thoughtful & melancholic. You won't get any fast action from it: all scenes are slow-paced, and it's pretty rare nowadays. It's "a beautiful apocalypse" after all — for those who are a bit romantic at heart (quite a cliche, so what of it).

(This game was a gift from a friend.) So, I didn't particularly enjoy this game, but I'm still giving it a recommendation because it is a good game. Wanda is a very narrative-driven game, you pretty much just walk from one cutscene to the next with a few puzzles in between. For me, there was too little gameplay, even though the story was nice. This game obviously had a lot of love put into it: the spritework is well done, the backgrounds seem to be handcrafted, and the music is both fitting and pleasant to listen to. The puzzles aren't too challenging, and most of them are different from each other. Overall, it is a good game, for people who like to watch their games instead of play them.
Music is beautiful & puzzles were okay, but the pacing is too slow. While you can put together the gist of the story & background lore off of watching the cutscenes, having all the dialogue in the robot language keeps you somewhat disengaged & confused for as much time as the slow & unskippable cutscenes take place. The dialogue does translate to english (each of the robot language characters corresponds to a different letter of the English alphabet), however thats only if youre willing to take the time to manually decipher it yourself. The game having a mode to switch this would keep players a bit more interested & engaged for the cutscene time between puzzles. Very easy to 100%. Also, there is a 100% walkthrough in the guides section that does have the language translated if you wish to read along with that as you play.
A very bold game, in the sense that it thought that 5-6 lines of dialogue at a time without a spoken or written human language is acceptable.
