I could pick this apart, but... it's one US dollar. It's an amateur effort by an amateur developer that comes off pretty well. My 9 year old daughter rated it "really good" and since she was the one I got it for, that's about the best you can ask.
Unlike Rift Coaster or Dream Coaster which had constant immersion destroying judder and choppy performance, VR Roller Coaster - Cave Depths provides a smooth as silk experience with great stereoscopic 3D. You can smoothly look all around while riding this. If you like roller coasters, real or virtual, you won't be disapointed.
Played On: HTC Vive
VR Roller Coaster - Cave Depths is yet another coaster game for virtual reality. However, don't let that automatically dissuade you from considering picking it up. For just a buck, you'll gain one of the most fun and well optimized roller coaster simulations out there. Starting on a snow-ridden mountain and traveling all the way down through the depths of a mystical cavern littered with treasures and other fantasy themed elements, it's a three minute ride that's worth checking out. Having only 4 reviews at the time of writing, excluding mine, VR Roller Coaster - Cave Depths seems to be one of the most overlooked coasters on Steam. Which is too bad, really, as it's one of the best experiences of its type. There's no stuttering or blurry vision, it's a seamless ride that's smooth as butter from start to finish. It's also a really fast coaster, and it was the first one that I tried out in VR; at that time, it totally blew my mind. A great purchase for both VR veterans and for showing off to newcomers.
Just one roller coaster. Not that intensive and the only place where you "can choose" the direction doesn't work. It's cheap but not even worth the one euro. Had a demo that had 3 tracks and all of them were better.
You get what you pay for
The little coaster that could. I’ll admit I bought it on sale because of the negative reviews, but it’s actually a fun little coaster that plays well on the Rift. It seems your left trigger starts the ride, which includes the snowy mountains and some nice cave adventures for a ride of around four minutes. I don’t think the choose your path function works so maybe it needs fixed, but even with just the fairy cave path it’s clearly a game the dev loved and cared about and not just a clone of other coasters I’ve ridden. Well done!
I bought this Simulator to use for a VR Cybersickness Research project. It's nice and simple (despite the choose direction interaction being flipped) and it worked very well as a virtual environment for my project.
Played on HTC Vive Pro/Vive controllers/RTX2060super. meh.. for 50 cents it's even meh.. I couldn't get it to go the other direction on my second and third try so I just gave up, how much/hard I even looked to the right it just kept going to the left.. Maybe if you're into rollercoaster vr it might be interesting, but for me it was just meh... At least the devs could have used the rumble on the controllers for a little bit of extra feel.. I'll give it a thumbs up for the effort. but even at 0,52 cents it's a close call..
This was a very strange experience... But a good one! With a bit of fine tuning and some more mini games this could replace Beat Saber as my go-to exercise game!
