Beautiful, interesting, but infuriatingly slow moving. More of a press right simulator. I'm too impatient for this one. Played via Proton.
Voyage is a beautifully understated adventure that demonstrates how powerful a game can be without relying on combat, lengthy dialogue, or fast-paced action. Developed and published by Venturous, it follows the journey of two travelers who awaken in a mysterious world and begin a shared quest to uncover the truth behind forgotten civilizations while searching for a way back home. Rather than telling its story through spoken conversations or text-heavy exposition, the game allows its environments, animations, and subtle character interactions to communicate its narrative. This quiet storytelling approach encourages players to observe every detail and draw their own conclusions, creating a deeply personal and reflective experience. The game's greatest strength lies in its stunning artistic direction. Every location is hand-painted with remarkable attention to detail, transforming each scene into something that resembles a living illustration. Ancient ruins, vast deserts, mysterious mechanical structures, and vibrant landscapes combine to create a world that feels both alien and inviting. The environments constantly inspire curiosity, rewarding exploration with breathtaking scenery instead of material collectibles. Smooth character animations and expressive visual cues compensate for the complete absence of dialogue, making emotional moments surprisingly impactful despite the game's minimalist presentation. Voyage revolves around exploration and environmental puzzle-solving rather than traditional gameplay challenges. Players control two companions who must cooperate to overcome obstacles, activate forgotten machinery, and traverse hazardous terrain. The game supports both solo play and local cooperative multiplayer, with each mode offering a satisfying experience. In single-player, switching between both characters is intuitive and keeps progression flowing smoothly, while cooperative mode enhances the sense of teamwork as players communicate to solve puzzles together. The puzzles themselves are thoughtfully designed without becoming overly difficult, ensuring the journey remains relaxing and accessible instead of frustrating. One of the most impressive aspects of Voyage is its commitment to silent storytelling. There are no spoken words, quest markers explaining every objective, or lengthy cutscenes guiding players through the adventure. Instead, the narrative unfolds naturally through visual symbolism, environmental design, and the growing bond between the protagonists. This restrained approach allows the mystery surrounding the world to remain intriguing from beginning to end, encouraging players to interpret the events according to their own perspectives. While some may wish for more concrete explanations, the ambiguity strengthens the game's emotional impact and makes the experience linger long after it is finished. The atmosphere is further elevated by an exceptional musical score composed by Calum Bowen. The soundtrack complements every scene with gentle melodies that emphasize feelings of solitude, discovery, hope, and companionship without overwhelming the experience. Combined with subtle ambient sound effects, the music creates an immersive world that feels peaceful and contemplative. The absence of combat or loud action sequences allows the audio design to shine, making each new area feel distinct and emotionally meaningful. Another noteworthy feature is the game's welcoming accessibility. Voyage supports controllers, keyboard and mouse, as well as touch controls, allowing players to choose whichever input method feels most comfortable. Its straightforward mechanics and intuitive interactions make it suitable for newcomers while still providing enough engagement for experienced adventure game fans. The focus remains on enjoying the journey rather than mastering complicated systems, making it an excellent choice for players looking for a calm and story-driven experience. Its only significant drawback is its relatively short duration and limited replay value. Players searching for intricate gameplay systems, highly challenging puzzles, or branching story paths may find the experience somewhat brief. The slow pacing and minimalist narrative may also feel too subdued for those who prefer action-oriented adventures. However, these design choices are intentional and align perfectly with the game's vision of delivering a thoughtful, emotionally driven journey rather than a mechanically demanding one. Ultimately, Voyage succeeds as an artistic adventure that prioritizes atmosphere, cooperation, and visual storytelling above everything else. Venturous has crafted a memorable experience that proves meaningful narratives do not require extensive dialogue or elaborate gameplay systems. Its gorgeous hand-painted environments, elegant soundtrack, accessible puzzle design, and emotionally resonant journey come together to create an unforgettable exploration of friendship, perseverance, and discovery. Although its quiet nature and concise length may not appeal to every player, those willing to embrace its peaceful pace will find an experience that is both heartfelt and visually captivating. Rating: 8/10

A nice little experience, good to play together with someone else.
Przepiękna prosta gierka do ogrania razem z drugą połówką.
bon voyage

4/4
Extremely hard difficulty - trying not to fall asleep while holding the key to walk right for 1.7 hours.
