This is a strange game to write a review about. I can understand both sides, the ones that don't recommend and those who do. What I can't understand is the developers. They seemingly pushed out a product that was in very good state, not that polished, a bit buggy but it was immersive, atmospheric, scary and promising with decent graphics at the same time. Why I say that I can't understand them is because they rushed out the full release of a certainly not finished EA title after a few months of the EA release. They could have fallow the path of Endlight Games Ltd.'s paths, aka the creators of The Forest, they could have worked on it for at least another 2 years to polish it better, to add new stuff (there is no crouch in this game, the animation is lacking, some sound design options are too repetative) to the game, iron out bugs, sell much much more copies in the meantime than they actually did. I mean this was a very poor decision by them economically, and left many players, including myself very disappointed about the product, yet I am going to upvote this, barely but I do, not because it necessarily worths it's price, but because I got the price worth it in this game after all and I haven't finished yet what I plan to do. Building in this game is very similar to The Forest, you chop down bamboos in a similar manner and finish the building's pre-placed transparent blueprints, crafting, //eating, drinking but in a creative way hence the alien world//. Nights are scary especially at the beginning when you have no base or it's just a barebone one. The happenings and the sounds at night's are pretty creepy tbh. But as you gear up and explore the places, you will get your courage and feel a bit more competitive about yourself. Anyways. Normally this wouldn't worth the price, but if you are like me and like when you hear ,,survival+alien'' in the same sentence, you gonna like it. But keep in mind it's in EA state in feels, despite being fully released...
i can't even play the game. as soon as the game loads the character is just spinning around. i can't move . thought i was drunk, lol
During the Greenlight era, many were invited to a group with a promise of a free copy of this game. When they "ran out of keys", they kicked us out of the group. This game was made by a bunch of lying crooks. The game itself is not bad though. Just kidding, it's rushed early access hot garbage that someone decided to put a 1.0 on it and call it done.
An open world survival game that is unpolished, underdeveloped, glitchy, buggy, and regularly faulty, that still manages to be fun and rewarding. Positive: - While unoriginal and derivative, the story and premise are fun and intriguing, placing the player in an alien realm that is not too geographically dissimilar from Earth. The flora and fauna are sufficiently familiar to Terran players while also offering some exotic locations to see and to survey. - Crafting schematics and recipes are easily and readily available. There is no guesswork involved in terms of planning for items to be assembled or to be prepared. All components and ingredients are clearly displayed in a manner that is simple to follow and intuitive to complete. - Although not exhibiting very high-quality assets, the prevailing atmosphere is serene, yet treacherous. Most aliens and creatures present a good challenge in fighting and in hunting, creating a setting that is equally engaging and foreboding. There are many regions to visit and to discover, and there are numerous enemies and beings to encounter. - Journeying is productive and satisfying. With a moderately medium-sized map to explore, new resources are plentiful and widespread, continually expanding the crafting choices available to the player and increasing the scope of activities one could take part in. Going on treks in order to uncover the meaning of the plot's disastrous circumstances is unwoven and exposed by the environment and by the artifacts it furnishes. - Planet inhabitants are diverse, fairly interesting, and pose a constant threat to adventuring players. Animal life is not abundant, but is naturally scattered throughout the planet, making the hunting process realistic and gratifying. The variety of alien species, especially, presents a unique assortment of humanoid groups, each with their own behaviors, characteristics, and appearances. Being assaulted, ambushed, or surprised by such lifeforms is always dangerous, if one is unprepared. Neutral: - Despite the map displaying several points of interest, there is no indication as to what or when one should be visiting and investigating those sites. In fact, no reason is given to the player regarding anything. All circumstances must be met and addressed without any understanding of what could potentially happen or for what reasons. - Graphical glitchiness is abundant. Starting or loading a game produces a momentary enlargement of the graphical user interface. Bringing up the inventory and crafting menu will often cause the entire viewable screen to darken for some inexplicable reason. Tabbing in and out of the menu will fix the problem. - Some crafting mechanics are user-unfriendly and clunky. Building a fence, for instance, requires six bamboo sticks, but one is only allowed to carry four bamboo sticks. To craft the item, one must choose it from the crafting menu, regardless of whether or not they have all the required parts, choose a position for deployment, then attach each individual part onto the to-be construction, to be able to craft it. - Structural deconstruction or disassembly requires a very specific tool to be possible. If any fence, shelter, totem, cooking setup, building, trap, fireplace, etc is built, it cannot be dismantled or moved unless one has crafted a relatively rare item. Without said item, such fabrications become permanent fixtures of the game world. - Enemies' artificial intelligence is fiercely aggressive, but it is also geographically limited. While most aliens and some wildlife will actively chase the player, committing to combat, others will absolutely not be able to climb boulders or reach higher elevations, causing some somewhat exploitable incidents. - The game's only craftable vehicle does not allow for the access of inventory or navigational menus while the player drives it, making its usage cumbersome. If one needs to refer to the map, so that they are informed of their location and surroundings, they must dismount the vehicle. - Map notes are not permitted. Certain, but not all, locations are automatically marked on the map, but the player cannot place their own markings or make notes regarding locations of the map. This makes remembering where to go for farming purposes more troublesome than it has to be. - Many of the craftable items and structures will not be used due to their demanding requirements or because they are simply not practical. Aside from creating depot arrays for a storage infrastructure pertaining to various items, most of everything else that can be built just feels redundant and unimportant. Some weapons are so lousy, such as the bow and arrows, that choosing to use them is a deliberate handicap or disadvantage in comparison to the more utilitarian spear. Negative: - Frame drops are frequent and nearly constant. While the frame rate seems to be capped to one's system's settings, taking part in any activity will cause drops of anywhere between 20 to 50 frames per second. Not only does this make the general gaming experience miserable, but it also breaks immersion by reminding the player that the game's engine is severely defective. - Aside from adjusting the audio volume, screen resolution, selecting full screen or windowed mode, and remapping the controls, there are no advanced graphical options at all. The graphics quality setting only allows for low, medium, high, and maximum, whatever that may mean. The player is not allowed to change the field of view or the mouse sensitivity, making moving around the game world quite uncomfortable. - There are some usable items, such as the spear, for example, that cannot be retrieved once it has killed a prey. The weapon can be seen momentarily, sticking out of the corpse, but it cannot be reacquired from the carcass. - Items dropped to the ground will eventually disappear, without any rationale, even when dropped off at one's home area. There does not seem to be any way to avoid this aside from using the craftable item holders and placing them around the campsite. Overall rating: 3.0/5.0
i had high hopes for this game, looks good and runs well but the controls are buggy, making it hard to play.
