The game is unfinished and doesn't have much content. Developer said he will be going on hiatus. Next update, v1.6, was supposed to be released on 30. May 2018 but it still hasn't come out yet. He is still somewhat active on Twitter and sometimes posts on Steam Discussions, but it looks like development of the game has ceased. This game is mainly about the basics of RTS, but in a very intuitive and cosy way. Gathering ressources to build your fleet while scouting the nearby area for opposing threats. Repelling an attack and then your scout stumbles upon a mining spot of your enemies harvesters, your ships obliberating them and searching for a nearby base. Which is not always an easy task as there are no stationary units, everything can move to anywhere. The game does not offer tech-trees or unit mayhem, but you can easily create your own custom ships in the magnetic-block-like editor to extend the default ship types. It's easy to use and gives you direct feedback on how each module affects the ships stats. The controls are very easy to understand but there also is an in-game tutorial (how to play). It feels really satisfying to freely rotate, move and zoom the playspace with your hands, almost as if this type of game was just waiting for VR. The game does not excel in providing photorealistic visuals, although it is clearly made with passion and skill. It is pleasant to look at and if you zoom in a bit you may be surprised by some very detailed animations and effects. I really enjoy the game and can recommend it to anyone interested in RTS in general, but also to all who like to try out games that feel like something new. Mind you, this game is made by a single person so you know where your money goes - directly to the further development!
void LINK is one of a few space-based real-time strategy titles that allow you to jump into the action and duel against others when all you have is a spare moment to play. You can quite literally come home for your lunch break, engage in a 10-minute skirmish and still have time to eat and get back to work. There are 12 units to choose from including small interceptor, asteroid miners, star harvester, frigate, scouts, etc.. all of which can be created by your shipyard - granted you have the resources on hand. You also have the ability to create a myriad of custom ships from scratch or modify existing vessels in the ship editor to pit them against unsuspecting opponents. The 3d space environments are quite beautiful and boast a real sense of presence. The layouts of each game are generated procedurally - so you never play the same game twice. The use of the touch controls is rock solid whether selecting and commanding individual ships to entire fleets or moving around the environment using a locomotion system that allows you to grab the environment and push, pull and rotate it around yourself along with the ability to make yourself bigger or smaller in an analog fashion. If you are looking for a multiplayer RTS title that boasts of a mixture of Homeworld and Command & Conquer but is simple enough to learn the mechanics in 5minutes or less (much longer to master) then you don't want to miss this title. Really good game and awesome concept. As a fan of homeworld this game immediately hooked me. Its very early but it has all the building blocks of becoming my goto RTS game in VR. Moving the world around you with the controllers works very intuitively and peeking at the tiny spaceships zipping by is mind blowing. Also the in game ship editor is a great idea. Looking forward to what the future brings for the game. Recommended !
I just pwned my dad and made a cool dreadnaught i really hope this is vastly expanded upon but even now mind-blown i just love it so far i do hope they make it so you can make a solar/miner ship and ship creators because my dreadnaught cant be built if the physics are real so you should be able to connect ships to make bigger ships( like connecting two ship-yards to make bigger custom ships ). But still LOVE THIS GAME!
Wow! Bought this for me an my son. We played 3 games over a 1 hour period. Sadly, I got dunked on every game, but I'll definitely pwn him next time. This is a must have game if you like RTS, or startegic games. The balance of resource collection, and force development is very well done, and the fog of war is on point. It is very reminiscent of "HomeWorld" sans the awesome music score. I have yet to play with the in game options, or build my own ship, but I am looking forward to it. For less than $6.00 this is a steal. Get this game, and help support this awesome developer!!!
I like the unique approach that with void LINK you enter the VR-world not as an avatar representing yourself, but rather using the VR-space as a tool/method for monitoring and operating a fleet of starships in a Homeworld like fashion. So in void LINK space surrounds you and you can "float" or teleport through it. You are controlling your ships in this fashion and by that controlling space itself (if you do a better job than your opponent). It's easy to get familiar with the controls and soon feels natural. I feel like a fleet admiral with a futuristic way of monitoring and controlling my fleet. Might well be that the idea of this game will actually soon be seen in SciFi movies. One of the best RTS for VR out there.
Very much like Istrolid http://store.steampowered.com/app/449140 but in VR and 3d... Really well done! runs well, plays well, custom ships (block based system) It doesnt have as many blocks as Istrolid does but I think this devs great and when people start talking about this game it is going to blow up... The price is fantastic.. seen large indie companies make games and charge 30 bucks that were not as good.. buy it, try it, love it!
Very nice game , easy gameplay construct , smooth and interactive , big thumbs up !!! Total freedom to build own ships / fleet
I'm not a dedicated fan of RTS but i think the VR/3d aspect has me kinda hooked. I played for 4 hours straight in 'practice mode'.... which i think they should just call single player mode... and add some nice little rewarding indicators when you've wiped your enemies out. Multiple AI factions would be nice too. The game was very intuitive and only requires a very short tutorial. BONUS: you can rotate the game space so you can play sitting down which is great for a game like this. I really enjoyed seeing my little custom battle ship being cranked out of the 4x3 shipbuilder :)
