This program should not be sold on steam or any platform for how poorly it operates. I've trained my computer on my voice a multitude of times and made dictionary cards for specific words with recordings of my voice and it still refused to recognize 99% of what I was saying, please do yourself a favor, do not waste your money on this crap.
great addition to any sim enjoyer's toolbox, couldn't go without it
Outstanding brings your gaming to a new level
I’ve been using VoiceAttack for a long time, and Version 2 is excellent. I use it for sim games, but also for RPGs. For example, in BG3 I created a profile with menu commands, dialog selection, and a few utility commands like “group hide.” In sims like Elite Dangerous or No Man's Sky, I use the HCS voice packs, which add amazing audio responses recorded by professional actors. You can control almost every aspect of your ship with voice commands, and it adds a huge amount of immersion. Really great stuff. Creating a profile for a game is simple: you type the phrases you want to say and assign the keystrokes or actions you want VoiceAttack to perform. But there are also plenty of advanced capabilities if you want to go deeper. For BG3, I even created a command that launches the game and plays a random voice line like, “Let’s go adventuring!” I also use voice commands during dialogs to pick responses and open menus. You could absolutely use it in combat too if you wanted. For sim games, VoiceAttack adds a whole new level of immersion, especially combined with the HCS voice packs. For RPGs and other genres, it’s just a really fun and useful quality-of-life addition. Highly recommended.
I am using this to play flat games in VR and it's been amazing - simplifies opening menus and issuing commands to companions in games like The Outer Worlds (also adds immersion). I can already see how awesome it would be in the flight sims after I jump back into playing them!
So, in some ways this software is pretty good. And I really want to give a thumbs up... But. As many people, I primarily use this software when using VR (meta quest 3). But the best way to play VR games is steam link. Quest link is... Don't. Voice attack 2 has major issues competing with audio if you let it try to use the (vr headset) microphone through steam vr / steam link. This is both via WIFI 6 or if I turn off wifi in my vr headset and rely on a direct usb-c -> gigabit converter -> ethernet -> main router. It's not bandwidth. Also running it as admin doesn't fix the issue. The only way I've found to get around this is by having it operate on a mic not associated with the VR headset that is always connected to your computer. This isn't terrible to do, but the issues if I don't do that are the problem. If I let voice attack 2 try to use the microphone through steam link all kinds of voice attack 2 application crashing out and perpetual black boxes on the desktop and distorted audio from other sources and other really annoying problems frequently occur. As VR is a big reason to use voice attack 2, and steam link / steam vr are popular too, I have to therefore give a thumbs down, since it causes so many issues.
Not only an acessibility tool. but also an add-on that adds depths to games. I wish I had known about it sooner!
