Another point and click adventure except you will not find any adventure here. Puzzles are rather simple and mediocre at best. Not much going on except finding keys to another room. There is some hidden object parts which again are rather easy as there is only few things to find at best. Game lacks some kind of charm and good story which would make it a much better experience. PS: Good luck with going up the ladder...
HOPA game in a limited, enclosed setting, a small cargo ship, which was realistic, grungy, but kind of boring. Uncommon 3d graphics for the genre with swaying motion because of waves, an effect I liked. Most puzzles seemed like busy work instead of making me actually use my my brains. Examples being those match-3 tiles, memory games and jigsaws. Atmospheric music tracks during hidden object scenes didn't irritate me as they were unobstrusive and long enough. Sound cut off each time you entered a new scene which was distracting then forgotten. There's a map but it didn't tell you where there was stuff to do meaning lots of backtracking or abusing the hint button for direction, which I did. Had to use one or two hints on each hidden scene because I realized some weren't fair to find. I had to force myself to finish it. Way too expensive at regular price.
This game was beautifully done for an indie game. Night Mysteries: The Amphora Prisoner unlocked a memory for me while I was playing. I remembered as a kid, I used to download HOG apps on my phone all the time. They were my guilty pleasure and I loved playing them. This game reminded me of how much I used to adore this kind of game and rekindled my love for them. As time went on, the HOG's got a little more challenging every time. I really enjoyed playing it and to be honest, I skipped a lot of the story because it didn't really hook me in. But the HOG's kept me interested and loving the game. Highly recommended, especially at this price! 🥰 While you're here, why don't you follow me on my Steam Curator page? 🥰
Night Mysteries: The Amphora Prisoner is a mobile app-like point and click hidden object game with a nautical/recent historical theme. Gameplay consists of clicking around on hotspots in various scenes, which triggers a few simple clicking puzzles and hidden object searches. Like the free-on-mobile Aritfex Mundi HOG mobile apps, but not as good. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio. It's possible they developed this using an old CRT they found in a dumpster, or this game has been specifically designed for people gaming on PC's from 1995... either way, this isn't really acceptable in the modern era of PC gaming. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes Night Mysteries: The Amphora Prisoner might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only appears around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. Night Mysteries: The Amphora Prisoner is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
A terrible hidden object game. The movement around it is weird and the map doesn't help you since you can not click on it to move locations. Some of the minigames are absolutely awful and there is way too much pixel prefect hunting of items for my liking.
You should try it if you're into hidden object games.
nice and short HOG with a great 3D spice added to it. pros. 3D graphics ok story cons. short (around 2 hours for the main story) no bonus chapter no voice acting i had faced 2 bugs. one with a puzzle piece that was missing so i had to exit and re-enter the puzzle. the other one was a click that did not register 3 annoying puzzles 2 of which involves clicking or steering for 3 minutes the other one was remembering sequence for 8 switches 8 times and if you fail on one of the sequences all reset and have to do all over again. despite all the cons i have listed and the game being released in 2015 i actually enjoyed this game especially the 3D concept of it. i like when the Devs experiment and bring something fresh to the HOG world. 6/10 for the game +1 for the cards =7/10
