Personally, I loved this game! But there are some things to note before playing. This game is very different from VVR 1, which of course isn't a bad thing, just don't expect the same gameplay. Speaking of gameplay, I thought the mech controls were pretty nice although it took a little bit to get used to. I have no complaints with the game other than some bugs, everything else was super enjoyable for me! The voice acting was great, the artstyle is amazing, and the entire soundtrack is incredible. Would recommend!
Disappointing. The whole mech thing is such a draw back.

This game is completely different from the first game. It barely exists in the same universe. It seems the developers made it "fun for all ages", which is a stark contrast from the original game. I much preferred the original game, it made me feel every emotion, fear, remorse, confusion, but this game, it's just a clunky shooter. No emotional investment, and shallow characters. It's so much different to the first game. I can't say that enough. There's no darkness and no thrill to this game. Its just, go somewhere, do thing, repeat. Now, there are unique and interesting mechanics in this game, and far more content than the original, but the story so far is a let down.
I really enjoyed the game all the way through from start to finish and it left a really huge impression on me I've been waiting for the steam release cause i personally don't really like the Oculus store and oh boy it totally was worth the wait. I'm relatively new to VR only having 200 hours in a variety of different games from rhythm games to fast paced shooters and this release impressed me a lot. I loved VVR1 but it really felt like it ended on a cliffhanger i wanted to see the continuation of and the sequel improves in that regard in every way. From visuals to the immersion standpoint, sound design, voice acting and all little details that sometimes made me just stop and observe the environments for a couple of minutes. In the game you're operating a huge Mech named Chaz (yes that same dude you may've heard of in the previous game) accompanied by several teammates and your goal is basically to escape the Metaverse which is about to shut down. What's really stunning is that each level literally throws something new at you. One level could be a platformer another could be an arena shooter, a puzzle, a frikkin pokemon type arena, a Beat Saber-like meditation practice, a spaceship labyrinth shooter lever or even a musical pause. What that means is you'll most likely never get bored during the story and also leave some memorable quotes, funny moments or even plot twists all throughout. I'd say the first game really feels like a prologue to this one so it's also worth playing as well CANT WAIT FOR VVR3 LAOO PLS. A little negatives i found is -The lack of achievements -The controllers don't work if your game is minimized on desktop TLDR game good go play very nice 10/10
VVR2 is buggy and frustrating, but also unique and unpredictable adventure that really shines in its second half. The game is severely underrated on Steam, IMHO, mostly because of a very uninspiring prologue/beginning. VVR2 is a bit clunky in general, but the first two hours are the worst: constant clipping of character models, dialogue lines mashing together or completely breaking after an unexpected interaction, plus (intentionally) annoying mannerisms of literally "chronically online" citizens of Scottsdale. And all that is followed up by introduction of an awkward mech controls that take time to get used too, and in result many people just left the game right there, before reaching the best parts. I personally think that mech part is not bad at all: it is challenging and fun to control, requiring constant switching of gears with both hands. The issue is that a lot of locations are not fun to go through in the mech mode, because of all the death pits, narrow passages and ladders. So after getting an ability to teleport, I've only used base mech controls to navigate the parts where it was required to move fast. And the game has so much more than just mech movement and combat. There are all sorts of crazy transitions and side activities, tons of fully voiced optional dialogue, homages and callbacks to the original and other classic VR games, some unexpected parts that I would not want to spoil. After reaching the Destroyed Plaza, I've finished the rest of the game in just two sittings, it was that absorbing. But even in its best parts VVR2 was still a rough ride with plenty of visual glitches and minor bugs. Works on Reverb G2
Although there is the bug here and there and it is not much like the original game, i still really like it. I quite like the mech mechanics although my arms are quite tired after. The vacuum and grabber things are very fun. I also like the story so far. However, sometimes you spent quite a while trying to find what to do and this can be because of a bug, one time i had to load my save again as it broke. Hopefully there will be some kind of bug patch. Overall I like the game so far
Refunded because the valve index support was not good, no finger tracking and baby hands. if those do get fixed i would definetly get the game and try the full thing out
great game, honestly this game gets some hate for it being buggy on release, which is justified, but has mostly been fixed, but lots of the hate is from it under-delivering in the shadow of the previous game in its series. people should not be comparing vvr1 to vvr2, they are VERY different games! The only thing similar about them is that they take place in the same world. if you take a step back and just look at this game as it is, (especially when you realize how tiny tender claws are) its incredible. With many hours of content, the developers are getting rid of lots of the bugs found at launch and are adding new content, and the astonishing amount of game mechanics truly show that this is a game the developers put lots of effort into. tldr; idc what other people say, this game is great
I was really looking forward to this game, since the first one is such a classic in the book of VR games. Unfortunately this game was not it. The character dialog is so uninteresting, the voices talk over each other all the time, and the mechanics are very annoying. But the worst part is the plot... which made so little sense to me, to the point that I stopped playing it. I wanted to give the game a second chance but was so uninterested I figured that was enough to leave it there. Additionally everything felt so tedious... form having to listen to the character dialog to the weird flashes of things light playing "beatsaber" which was kind of funny at first and then the "joke" lasted what felt like 7 minutes.
