About

You are a Paladin that took an Oath to liberate the land and its Cities from enemies coming from another plane of existence.
The game combines elements of RPG and light deck-building where Cards / Mana / Recruitable Followers and always-on Blessings must be synergized to Move, Interact and Battle with unlimited undo mechanics during battles to find the best possible outcome.
This game is a labor of love made by and for people that enjoy complex and thinky board games, digital or physical card games and deck builders, puzzles, strategy games and chess.
The randomness is limited and somewhat mitigated making it ideal for players that like to plan ahead.
Absolutely no micro-transactions, live service, virtual currencies, always online or any of that, ever. You just buy the game and enjoy high complexity challenging fun.
Since v1.9.0, the WINDOWS version of the game can be entirely played via console and text to speech for blind or visually impaired players.
Free Online tool to create content for the game with the game integrated with Steam Workshop to download and distribute community content (see modding guide).

Card-based everything: movement, interaction, battles. Akin to a resource management game with puzzle mechanics.
Slow paced: take your time, plan your turn, manage your cards and resources wisely.
Heavy focus on Strategy: maximize your current hand and synergize all your resources to make the seemingly impossible, possible.
Deep, intricate gameplay with sessions typically lasting 3 to 5 hours depending on the scenario.
Turn-based battles with unlimited undo/redo possibilities to allow you to explore and find the best outcome - should you take wounds and clog your hands for the next 3 turns or should you use all those cards and come out unscathed but unable to move on the next turn.
An ever-changing experience with randomized maps, decks and varied character combinations let you experience a different kind of puzzle each time you play.
Configurable scenarios, characters and decks allow you to fine-tune the experience to the level of complexity and commitment that suits you best.
Awesome power curve: you start powerful and grow even more powerful, if you can synergize your cards thoughtfully that is.
Challenge-based tutorials to introduce you organically to major game mechanics.

Similar to the thinky board game systems Paladin's Oath is inspired by, you are expected to rack your brain when playing this game if you want to succeed; although the experience is not stressful with no real-time pressure and unlimited undo/redo during battles (the most complex part of this game) allowing you to change your card configuration for better outcome as much as you want.
The game already ships with multiple scenarios each offering a unique type of challenge. The suite of Characters + Oath combinations also enables you to fine-tune the experience and provides varied playstyles: move more, recruit more, ability to use stronger cards more often, etc.
Paladin's Oath was designed to be extensible with full modding support so I'm hoping the community can contribute more scenarios, maps and heroes.
If you are really into the game and want to contribute and have some basic scripting experience don't hesitate to reach out.
If you enjoy this kind of custom board game digital "adaptation", you should try my previous game Mighty Dungeons which was my own take on the classic HeroQuest board game.

This is a game I've waited a long while to play. I am totally blind, and the addition of accessibility support makes this one of the very few complex board games playable for me without very tedious workarounds. The fact it is a very good game of course is worth mention, but since it is heavily inspired by Mage Knight that is almost a given. I've never had a way to enjoy that experience until now, and the developer put a lot of thought into making the accessibility as robust as possible. There are a lot of fairly complex mechanics, particularly in battle, and the screen reader support handles all of them with aplomb. The unfortunate thing, of course, is that I had to approach the developer and ask about game accessibility personally. One hopes that Unity or other big companies with pull are working on solutions to make this request easier to handle for everyone. I'm very grateful to at last have the chance to enjoy this excellent game.
lOVE THAT this is screen reader accessible. Very good experience, even if I'm quite bad at the game.
I appreciate the effort put into the game, but I find the UX quite confusing. While I enjoy complex games, the current UI/UX feels overly (and unnecessarily) complicated and could benefit from streamlining to improve usability.
It's Mage Knight, one of the best boardgames ever created. It's amazing. Play it. Dear dev, please make the expansions!
This game is pretty much Mage Knight, but without set up and tear down, and all the abilities are explained by hovering your mouse over them, which mean it has almost all of the strengths of perhaps the best solo board game as of writing, and pretty much none of the weaknesses. The art isn't amazing, but let's be honest, MK's art isn't great either. People play MK because it is a phenomenal game in its niche. I'd highly recommend this game to anyone who likes brain burny boardgames. If you don't want a many layered tactical and strategic puzzle to solve, then this game won't be for you.
Gloomhavens elder brother; It's essentially Mage Knight with different hero names and slightly different terminology. The iconography is instantly recognisable to anyone that's played the board game. This game really deserves more recognition than it's gets. At first the UI seems clunky and counterintuitive even when you *do* already know all the rules - the tutorials are a matter of dumping you in a mini situation and letting you figure it out yourself. There will be lots test clicking on various things until you figure out the way the game wants you to do things, but hey there's no better way to learn than stuffing something up half a dozen times before getting it right. You'll never forget after that! Once you have the 'Ahah' moment all the initial frustrations go out the window. Well worth the small price of entry. The game runs great on Linux (Slackware -current) though I've heard that if using a steam deck you might want to use Proton.
It's mage knight
Great adaptation of the Mage Knight boardgame. Good customization options for finetuning the experience. Although I prefer the artstyle of the original boardgame this is far superior to the TTS version. Thank you for creating this game.
found this gem - big fan of Mage Knight, but never seem to have the time for setting it up and such - so awesome to play this fast on the PC. I picked up the UI pretty fast, given the game has some pretty complicated effects, I'm happy with it, but I could see that if you aren't well-versed with the board game, it could be a handful.
Im surprised this game hasn't topped charts, its replayability is just incredible
