Played On: HTC Vive
If you've ever wanted to play the role of a medieval barbarian, then Viking Days has your fantasy covered. It houses 10 mini-games that include axe throwing, sword forging, ship burning, mead drinking, and dragon slaying. Each mini-game counts as a day, and each day survived is one step closer to securing your place in Valhalla once you fall. These games are randomized pretty well, and I never had one show up back-to-back. Their difficulty also increases each time that you replay them. However, their challenges only increase so much seeing as the game itself is a never-ending loop of cycling through these mini-features. For a family-friendly VR game, Viking Days has a lot of promise and missed potential. It suffers from the all too common fate of being completely abandoned by its creator as soon as it launched, leaving features such as achievements broken and throwing mechanics wonky; you'll never be able to hit any target straight-on. I figured it was one of those games where the achievements would pop after it closed, but unfortunately that's not the case. I even went through with doing most of them only to find no record of my greatness. If you have kids, or if your family has VR nights, then you might consider picking this up on sale. Otherwise, it's an easy offering to pass up.
You Only Live Once in these games as in life, SKOL!
I lived 11 day straight days, but those were the best days a VIking could have. I drank beer and then I drank some more. I taunted a fire-breathing dragon until it met its demise. I ran as fast as I could from an Ice Giant. I practiced my Axe throwing skills. I smelted a sword's blade with a hammer and sharpened a dull Axe. I laughed death in the face as I raided & looted castles and blocked arrows from their defenders. I burned invading hordes of ship simply by throwing my fiery torch to the sea. I walked the plank and dared death to block me from crossing the finish line. I banged the drum. Finally, the Icey Giant caught up to me. It was a good day to die, an honorable death in battle. My body will be burned and my ashes sent to the sea, to Val'Halla I go. Gods will never know the beauty of this life. A viking's life is only a good life when it ends with a good death.
So this is just a colllection of 10 mini-games. They are all quick & easy at first. Then they start getting difficult as you have to do more and more. I honestly don't know how anybody can get to 100 days. The content is very limited and I'm not sure if it's worth $5. It should be closer to $3 IMO, afterall it is just a mobile VR port. I can recommend this game if you like quick party games. This is great for a family with kids to play together. At the current price of $5, I would rate a 5/10.
This game is not fun. I finished all of the boring and repetative minigames within 15 minutes and I had no fun. I was very excited for this game when it said it would release in June. I saw that it had finally released after an extra 2 months and tried it out. The game just felt off. It didnt feel good to hold anything and you couldnt interact with anything except for what the minigame tells you to do and everything just feels clunky. Especially in the throwing games. If you are aiming for the target the object will go nowhere near where you are aiming. Overall, this is not worth the money.
Found it pretty slow and boring. I guess that eventually the difficulty might ramp up but it was too simply too easy and too slow paced. I wouldn't recommend the title.
3/10 Reasonably fun, but there's not much here. The challenges should have been longer rather than endlessly repeated.
Neat concept and art style, hopefully the dev's take what they make from this and work on something bigger, but I'm pretty sure I saw all there was to see in about 10 - 15 minutes basically VR wario-ware with a viking theme and only about 10ish minigames
Recomendo!
