So What Sets Vigilantes Apart From Other Games?
I'm sure you've noticed that the vast majority of turn based games favour fantasy or sci-fi settings. How many turn based games have you played that don't feature aliens, orcs, mutants, wizards, or bandits as antagonists? With Vigilantes, we wanted to offer you something fresh: a modern, neon drenched, rainy city in the midst of an unprecedented crime wave, supported by hard-boiled prose that brings the setting to life. It's no country for sorcerers or laser guns, but brace yourself for psychotic mob hitmen, molotov wielding doomsday cultists, and paramilitary survivalist snipers!
You can't take down vast criminal organisations by getting into street fights with low level hoods. Surveillance operations can reveal basic information on the extent of a gang's presence in a city district, or how much wealth they are gaining from operations there. To put a gang out of commission, you must locate and eliminate their boss, and smash their facilities. To do this, you must fight your way up the gang hierarchy, using your skills and equipment, such as truth serum, to break them in interrogation.
When's the last time you saw an enemy attempt to flee in a turn based RPG? What happens if they escape, and come gunning for you down the line, more experienced and powerful than ever? When an enemy runs, will you give chase, or focus on active threats?
The gangs will not sit back and allow you to dismantle their operations. They will carry out criminal operations, using the ill gotten proceeds on recruitment, equipment, training, and building buff providing rackets. Success comes with its own risks in Vigilantes. Once you get a gang's attention, they will dispatch deadly lieutenants to ambush and track you down. You may very well set out as the hunter and find yourself the hunted.

It's like XCOM, but with action points. Much smaller scale and rougher around the edges, but a fun game overall.

Took nearly 20 hours to beat my first playthrough. There isn't must to bring me back however. Gameplay consists of selecting a spot on the map, defeating the encounter then returning to base to sell loot and level up if need be. There's a bit more to it than that, but that's the gist of the loop. You meet a few companions along the way but they aren't memorable and you won't remember them after completing the game. You can craft, and its required. The armour and weapons need upgrading if you are to beat the gang bosses and LT's. Most of the combat consists of your 4 guys sitting tight behind cover and just clicking overwatch every turn. There's really no need to do any melee and to leave your cover, as all npc's will gradually run straight into your line of fire eventually. SInce combat is so easy, once everything is upgraded, the difficulty is trivial. I would go most matches never taking any damage. Just sitting behind cover with assault rifles and constantly clicking overwatch. This is more of a TRPG with stats and derived stats. Skills that go up with use etc. Everything a falloutlike fan would want. Except very little in game traversal. Everything is done from the base map. This was most likely done due to funds required but it works nonetheless, its just not very immersive. All in all, i have no desire to replay the game unless I want to do a pure melee build. Reason that i dont want to replay this is due to the dept of the combat. It's too easy. There really aren't too many story beats once you locate all the vigilante companions. It's just more of the same loop of selecting a new grid on a map to assault.Speaking of assault, there is a time limit. It's not in your face. However if you spend too much time grinding and not enough time locating gang LT's or bosses, those gangs will eventually get too powerful for you. So you must budget time used every day with grinding. I was level 25 by the time I finished and that was overdoing it. I could've probably finished at 20 and I could tell i was outpacing the content when I wasn't taking any damage and clearing whole grids in under 8 minutes or so.There are difficulty settings to make the game more grindy but....why? Why spend more time doing the same boring combat encounters? The music. WOW! The music tracks for this are outstanding. Synth melodies mixed with action music beats. Also, its refreshing to see different crpg settings other than post apocalypse and fantasy. I didn't think i'd appreciate the crime setting. But after watching movies like Super, or really just The Punisher, you get a newfound respect for these average folks trying to save their community.
O JOGO NÃO É BOM
Apesar de não ser tão antigo, os gráficos são MUITO pobres, beirando o mal feito. Para piorar a mecânica de jogo é lenta e confusa, difícil de entender. Não empolga. NÃO RECOMENDO.
I like this game alot.It has a story that's unique.Like Playing a Dolph Lundgren movie from the eighties. I Mean you got the mafia, cultists and suvivalists as possible enemies. Well i just started but I like the story alot so far.One or all might be smuggling a weird drug called elysium. It's time for you and your B team do surveilance missions long range until you get a high enough stat to do a close range surveilence and then the show begins. I would say in some ways its like xcom like at the beginning you will probably miss alot until you can get your guns stat up.And it wont take long because everytime you use something you get experience for it.Can't wait to dive back in tonight. I recommend this for adults.I like the music has an eighties miami vice feel to it.It has some base builing and crafting. It has some cool characters.Hey for that price its outta site baby
Ok game, not superb, however it is balanced and system makes sense. I enjoyed some tactic elements, modifications, crafting and base building
Pretty Cool. It is not free range, you're essentially going from combat to combat with an intricate neighborhood dynamic. All around interesting and fun.
strategico a turno vecchia scuola, con elementi di RPG ed evoluzione dei personaggi. Alcune pecche, possibilità strategiche limitate e avversari scemi, a volte ripetitivo ma molto molto gustoso e con una bella anima retro'.
Fun game. It has a nice gradual progression and you really feel powerful at the end once you've maximised all of your equipment and characters. Charging in with my melee character was fun, could kill many people in 1 turn. I recommend you choose the extended playthrough and the hard boiled difficulty.
