Vienna Automobile Society

An interesting game. But what wasn't clear before buying (yes, yes I should have checked) is there's no single-player mode, i.e. no bots to practice against. Otherwise it's very pretty and the mechanics are interesting. Sadly I can't give it a "neutral" score, so... on balance, it's a slight thumbs down.

Has a very different feel from any racing game I've played before. Controls take a bit of getting used to (especially as HUD is minimal) but as you get the hang of it, it starts to feel very satisfying. Would be great if there was the chance to race against AI, hopefully that will come in the future. Probably not for everyone but if you want a racing experience with a difference and have friends to play with, give it a go. Oh and a big thumbs up to the fantastic soundtrack!

Strategic multiplayer racing game with a clever mechanic of plotting a path ahead of you as you drive and managing speeds preemptively to correctly negotiate turns and avoid other drivers. Coordinating the paths and your speed to efficiently navigate corners creates a satisfying flow thing. Takes a bit of practice to get a feel of the controls but worth it.

Anyone that is interested in the strategic aspect of racing should check this out. It strips away all the technical input that tends to get in the way of traditional racing games to get you right into the high level racing strategy that often gets overlooked.

Soy aficionado de los juegos de carreras, títulos relacionados con motores siempre me llaman la atención, y a pesar de que Vienna Automobile Society no es un juego que parezca hacer rugir grandes máquinas, decidí darle una oportunidad. En Vienna Automobile Society utilizamos autos de carrera de los años 50, el juego sumamente simple en todo sentido, desde su arte, un único modelo de carro, y hasta su jugabilidad. Y si bien la jugabilidad es sencillísima, lograr manejar con destreza puede ser algo complicado. Para maniobrar nuestro bólido, en nuestras manos tenemos un mando de Xbox 360, con él, usamos el botón A para que el coche arranque y tome velocidad (sin mantenerlo presionado), con el mismo botón iremos haciendo los cambios necesarios de velocidad, en la pista, veremos pequeños relojes antes de cada vuelta que nos permiten saber cuando hay que acelerar o bajar una marcha (botón X) del carro para no chocar. Con el análogo izquierdo cambiamos la dirección del auto, no de una maneja convencional, sino que al mover el análogo, este moverá una linea que recorre la carretera (sobre esta va nuestro auto) y que dependiendo de como la movamos nuestro auto ejecutara sus movimientos. Vienna Automobile Society presenta un estilo gráfico agradable, muy humilde, pero realmente agradable, limitado en colores, pero hace su trabajo en representar bien los entornos en los que jugamos desde una perspectiva top-down. Tiene un total de 12 circuitos ambientados en localizaciones del mediterráneo. El problema principal de este juego es que su manera de jugarlo puede convertirse en una situación aburrida muy rápido, el modo 'entrenamiento' nos pone a correr solos en los distintos circuitos, no hay manera de jugar contra bots, y si quieres jugar con alguien más, el modo multijugador online (hasta 4 jugadores) está prácticamente muerto, al menos, existe el multijugador local para 4 jugadores. A pesar de su aspecto abstracto con mecánicas distintas, Vienna Automobile Society no deja de ser un título que más bien pudo haber sido un juego flash y no uno por el que pagaríamos $15, el contenido que tiene, ola diversión que le podemos sacar, no vale tanto dinero. El estudio desarrollador del juego se llama Royal Polygon.

Very clever take on the racing genre. Plays well online. I love getting the rhythm down for the shorter tracks.

This is an awesome game to add to your multiplayer games collection. Best part about it is you can outplay your friends on the couch or online. It's all about timing and reflexes so get to practicing.

Neat early-access flash game, good for a minute or two.
