For a cheap 2014 game, I'm impressed. It's like Sid Meier's Pirates in WW2. There's some nice plus sides here. The game is open and free, and there's not a whole lot of rush. It's forgiving for those that are new (especially the Mediterranean campaign), but can ramp up in difficulty on demand for those that have one at least one other campaign (especially the Atlantic campaign as the Germans). The graphics are pleasant enough, and the selection of ships is pretty wide. Having different factions and campaign options (and different mechanics exclusive to harder difficulties) adds a fair bit of replayability. There's some cons too. The game is clearly not designed for the current 20 ship size fleet limit. Once the total ships in a battle exceeds 20 it will get progressively laggier until you're playing at 10fps with 40 ships. Carriers make this even worse. Everything is as basic as you'd expect a mobile game to be. Picking a faction means nothing, as all axis can use all axis ships, and the same with allies. Nations mean nothing. Each campaign ends differently. Some end when you finish the final objective. Some finish when you capture all the ports. Some finish only once you do both. The game is not very deep, and so it can get repetitive quickly. However, there's ~ 50 hours worth of unique campaigns in this, and more hours if you go for different difficulties, nationalities, and other experimentation with the sandbox. For $25 that's a pretty good price. I know I am happy with my purchase (though I got it for more like $4) and would definitely recommend it.
Definitely a fun game, but it has several issues. Pros: Lots of ships to choose from some interesting mission types fun campaign Cons: commanding more than a few ships gets very complicated ships with different speeds will not stay in formation Campaign has very few mechanics Something especially strange is that the exp goals for Axis powers are half that of the Allies. Top tier American battleships are 100,000 XP while Japanese top tier battleships and carriers are 35,000 XP. There's no indication that the Axis campaign was meant to be easier, so it seems like it was just overlooked. The game comes with a manual, but it is only 7 pages and covers the most basic info about the game. For detailed ship stats you have to look in the steam forums for other players' research.
The Allies side is worth playing if you enjoy arcade style games. Not much realistic about the games. The Axis side is weak. bad weak and just annoying,

Great naval game
IF you are thinking about purchasing this for $5 on steam sale - do it. It's fun, arcade like approach to naval combat. Do not expect depth of realism. I have put about 700 hours into the game. It's worthwhile and a good play. Is it realistic, heck no. But where else can you take command of a Yamato class and devestate the Allied fleet?
Fun & easy to play.
older game but still fun. Break it out form time to time and play through agian.
