Mediocre gameplay pretty much and boring levels. This game must be dum-b.
(This game was gifted by the almighty Spookymcslave. Thanks, man.)
Before you ask...No, she does not get nekkid.
*sniff sniff* My, it's getting very Newgrounds in here...and it's time to give this game its first legitimate negative review. The premise of Vicky Saves the Big Dumb World is that you play as an evil girl saving the world so that SHE can take over the..."big dumb world". A plot that already sounds awkward from the get-go. Now, the backgrounds look great, but the character graphics irk me (but it's not like I could do much better). The controls feel awkward and reminiscent to what you would expect from a Newgrounds flash game. I have not beaten this game yet, but after 5 levels, boredom set in. Enemies seem to include mechanical eyeballs, flying bombs, evil ghosts, exorcism priests, snot fountains, and butt turrets (that fire sh*t)...so, the crude humor is there, but it feels rather juvenile. Overall, I would not say this was a positive experience and perhaps I'll beat the game or grind away for achievements, but I cannot in all honesty recommend this title. Vicky Saves the Big Dumb World currently has the asking price of $1, though it costs $0.50 when it goes on sale...to be honest, I cannot recommend much of a price other than "free", though if I had to give a numeric value, I'd say $0.00-$0.15 sounds about right. Gotta respect the dev for getting a game on Steam, but sadly it feels like Greenlight made the wrong call on this one...along with other questionable greenlit titles... 2/10 A goth/emo styled game for the angsty gamer. Sadly, it was not all that entertaining.
fun +1, get card.
This game could be fun. The Pros: The story, enemies, and music are rather well done. The Cons: The floaty jumping that is delayed from button press Vicky doesn't seem to like to aim left sometimes This game is impossible to get most of the achievement on. Seeing as how most have about a 1.6% global completion rate on 90% of the achievements. On normal difficulty some of the levels seem unbeatable so making it though on 1 life seems insane. You seem to need the orb powers to make it though some areas but it is so easy to lose them to miss jumps or not being able to turn and shoot in time. The only reason I put so much time into this games is that I won it on Steam Gifts and wanted to complete it to show I appreciated the gift. I just don't think I can get myself to push though and get this game completed.
Vicky Saves the Big Dumb World is a very simple game, but also very difficult. To pass a level you have to die several times. There are monsters: suicide bombers, ghosts, zombies, and other monsters! Sometimes the gameplay is inaccurate (especially in the jump) but remains playable. So Vicky Saves the Big Dumb World is a game made with a low budget, and you notice it, but manages to entertain and offer a few hours of play. Considering the price, I recommend it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sK6FbI0Ifr8
(Below is the Italian full review)
Vicky Saves the Big Dumb World è diabolicamente divertente, un'avventura in stile cartone animato, con molta azione e violenza!
Feature:
- 18 Livelli - 4 Livelli bonus - 4 abilità sbloccabili - 2 Minigiochi - Grandi Boss!
Parere personale:
Awesome game! Pro's: - Great story - Coolest intro ever - Stupidest SFX's in the world - Alot humor Con's: - Sometimes inaccurate - Levels makes me suicidal +1
Review + Giveaway x2
Note: keys provided to me by developer Vicky lives in a big dumb World and she's the only one who can save it. Giant turds are invading the planet and spewing out strange monsters left, right and center. Run, jump and shoot your way past them in this straight forward platformer. Playing Vicky Saves the Big Dumb World is like playing a no-holds-barred, angry at heart cartoon. Kind of like a more mature version of the excretory product flinging hero of yore Boogerman. Gameplay is simple but fairly tricky at times, providing a good level of challenge that's neither frustratingly hard or overly easy. Long jumps may take a minute or two to adjust to. I felt it necessary to press and hold the jump button ever-so-slightly before the edge of platforms. Objects will remain destroyed after you resume from a checkpoint, which hindered my progress at one point in the 2nd stage such that I had to restart the level. Thankfully, it was a painless one-minute affair to remedy. Each boss encounter is progressively trickier to beat than the last, they get pretty intense! Presentation/animations are well-done and each stage is significantly different to the other, both in terms of art and enemies. Backgrounds sometimes have multiple overlapping layers that results in a nice visual effect as you pass them by. The music fits the tone of the game and sound effects are suitably bizarre. Getting back to the enemies, I'm not exactly sure what some of them were, but they could be described as creepy and/or funny, depending on your point of view. Butts, the stuff that comes out of butts, sphincters and ..... other indescribable-to-me creatures roam each level. They seem to get weirder with each stage! Power-ups are rewarded to you after beating each stage and each one adds a new angle to the gameplay which you will be required to make use of. Simple, fun and varied gameplay will keep you occupied throughout. At this price point, I really can't find any reason not to recommend a purchase. [u]Giveaway here (ending approx.
