It's like if New Super Mario Bros. was gay
this game is so ragebaiting but i keep coming back... i can't stop... and yeah i only bought it because i played it back when it was still on roblox
To start off, I do genuinely recommend this game. I think it's very well-crafted and has a lot of promise. If you're a fan of 2d platformers, check this one out. ...Now, that being said, if you aren't a fan of early access, you might want to wait until this game is out of early access. I understand that game development, especially solo gamedev, takes a long, long time. Video games like this do not grow on trees, it requires a lot of long, substantial effort! I certainly commend the devs at Semag Games on their efforts. However, I think a lot of the development time gets muffled in re-iteration. Now, of course, game development is also an iterative process! Things change a lot as games progress, but I think Vibrant Venture has a problem where the devs seemingly want to fluff everything up rather than focusing on the substantial meat and bones of the game's A to B. It took 4 years for World 3 to be complete, with the boss fight for the world releasing later this year. I think this is great, this is a huge milestone! But it also makes me wonder if development time is being focused on the right things? They've introduced a full level editor, redone character sprites and tilesets multiple times, added a ton of extra story content, and introduced extra hard challenge levels for every world. This is all cool, don't get me wrong!... But the game still isn't finished. Based on the opening cutscene, I'm assuming that the game has five worlds, and currently the progress of the game's main story has been stalled on the third one for most of the time I've had it in my steam library. Again, I don't want to throw shade on the devs at all, I think the work they've done on Vibrant Venture is very impressive and I'm very eager to play the game once it's complete! But... I sorta wonder if the game will ever be finished at this rate? (I'm no longer in the game's discord so I don't know what's being shared in there.)
this game is great, very promising and fun gameplay, *vibrant* and great levels which brings back some nostalgia from other platformers also, the development is insane, this originally started as a ROBLOX game!
started as a roblox game, currently a masterpiece
Y'know, as an early supporter for this game, i'd recommend it a lot, it has everything a good 2d platformer needs: - Fun, challenging yet fair levels - Good looking, charming pixel art - A simple to follow story I looked at this project when it was still a roblox game, and bought it when it independized itself from the platform, I dont regret it, still check it from time to time; quality has improved since the alphas, peak!
Been here since the later roblox days - Very good! Keep it rollin'!
I LOVE VIBRANT VENTURE! One of the best indie platformers I've played in recent memory. The controls is this game are phenomenal. They take a bit to get used to at first, I won't lie, but once you do they're some of the snappiest and best flowing controls I've seen in a game of this style. Every death truly feels like your fault, and the game isn't too punishing about it either. Its a very nice game to just relax with; there's no big penalties for any loss. That being said there's a fair-share of challenging things too for people who enjoy that! Some of the later ones are SUPER tricky at first, but are super satisfying to get down correctly! For dedicated players, there are tons of bonuses and secrets to find as well, which I always appreciate! The art in this game is also beautiful; from the key art to the in-game sprites everything is so lively, and the added bounciness via the in-game engine on everything truly brings them to life in such a unique way. The music and sound design also bring a lot of this world to life, with an incredible soundtrack that IMO is up there with the greats. I do wish it was available in full outside of Soundcloud though... a few tracks are missing from the YouTube uploads at the time of this review. I will also add that if your eyes are hurt by bright colors for long periods of time, this game probably isn't for you (which isn't shocking based on the name but... whatever). Recent updates have changed a lot of level art to in fact be brighter than before, which for me I enjoy, but could be a bit taxing on the eyes for others. I think maybe some visual aid settings could go a long way. I will say I would recommend playing this on keyboard. One gripe I do have from trying to play on controller (which I usually prefer in platformers like this) is the controller mappings are rather awkward, and have lead to some unnecessary deaths during my time playing. This isn't the biggest deal, but I feel like there is certainly some better solutions to the controls that could be figured out with the necessary time put in. Regardless this is an incredible game, even if its not fully finished just yet. It is crazy how far this game has come along during its development cycle, I remember playing the first demo and the game is so much more fun and intuitive than it ever was back then! For the $20 price tag I would recommend giving it a shot to anyone even remotely interested, you won't regret it!
uhhhhhhh
On my old steam account i used to have this game a few years ago, I decided to pick it up again, and MAN, how far the game has come since then is amazing. to anyone with a remote interest in precise 2D platformers this is a must buy even during early access! (I am banana.)
