Not the most enthusiastic 'Recommended' of my life, but for the most part it is still a fun experience
Verho is like if King's Field wanted to be more like Dark Souls than King's Field. Lots of Dark Souls mechanics and references got mixed in the old school dungeon crawler formula. It does work, but it feels like it has an identity crisis at times. The story and worldbuilding is very good, it definitely carried my playthrough to the finish line, because the last quarter-or-so of the game felt lackluster and generally lower quality. The environments and locations there often lack the necessary polish, care and attention. The last location was just painful. You can tell they rushed the development to get the game out of the door. But it is still mostly good, especially the early-mid game, the locations are interesting, have secrets, branching paths, alternative routes, loopbacks etc. They got the retro dungeon crawler atmosphere right. The game allows many playstyles, LOTS of weapons and spells you can choose from, bows, crossbows, spells, swords, shields, daggers, throwables you name it, this game has it all. Most of these you will find in the world, but you can purchase quite a few. And if you want to try something else, you can easily respec a few times. The enemies and monsters are a hit-and-miss. They are fun and good early on, but they get janky and possibly buggy in the second half of the game. Many monsters are phasing through solid walls and floors, completely ignoring collision?? Especially when they have homing attacks. It goes beyond what I'd consider cute indie jank. It is annoying as hell. A monster can snipe you from a kilometer away, its projectiles passing through everything. The aggro of some of them is absolutely relentless and crazy. They will NOT de-aggro and will follow you even into boss arenas and through portals... Also they get repetitive near the end, with reskinning enemies from earlier areas. Sadly, the best secret treasure hunt has the most disappointing reward imaginable. Bummer. The OST is merely passable. The game has VA, but it is so clear that the voice actors are not professionals, which is not a bad thing btw. They were doing their best, which I appreciate a lot, I found it charming. Definitely added to the indie vibe. The game has NG+ and randomized mode if you want to play more after your playthrough. Also install this game on an SSD if you can. There are plenty of loading screens, and somehow they don't load that fast.
Overall, it did scratch my old-school dungeon crawler itch, even with its issues and annoying jank.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

i did my first playthrough and man i really enjoyed this game it plays a lot like an old school 1st dungeon crawler. if youlike op magic, weapons with umph, give this a shot, it may seem unforgiving at first, but that is literally your first 2 hours getting your wits
Está bien pero es un poco Roguelike
It's good! If you like King's Field inspired / soulslike type games, you'll like this one. There's a good variety of build support, fun variety of weapons/spells, and the vibes in some of the locations are pretty great (music deserves a nod too). Enemy variety is slightly lacking (there's a few that are just reskins of each other), but overall better than I expected, and the bosses are all pretty much unique. The game really rewards exploring nooks and crannies of the levels too, you'll find plenty of missable weapons/spells/NPCs - it is mostly linear (there are a few branches and shortcuts, but nothing on the scale of Dark Souls' interconnectedness, think more Dark Souls 2) but I didn't mind that much. Towards the end, some of the enemies can start to feel a little spongy if your build isn't optimized for high enough damage, and they can 1/2 shot you if you haven't invested enough in health/defense - so be warned there. Also check out Lunacid and Dread Delusion for things in a similar vein, I would maybe rank this the best among those?

Just finished it, great game! If you enjoy games like Skyrim, Arx Fatalis or OG King's Field, you will really enjoy this one! The art direction, music and sound Design really elevate the experience!
A very nice adventure if you love the oldschool nature of it.
I've discovered Verho shortly after completing Lunacid. If you're here for the same reason and you're wondering if the game is worth your time, then my short answer is: yes – give it a try. What i've found to be the most enjoyable about Verho was uncovering the mystery of the curse bit by bit. It was intriguing, well crafted, and you are given a choice at certain points of the story. Another good thing is, that the weapon and spell variety is quite impressive – especially the spells. Though i will say, that playing as a pure spellcaster is most likely not a viable option and i suggest investing some points into STR or DEX early on. It's not much of an issue, since eventually you may end up having so many skill points that you won't be sure what to do with them, but i thought it is worth mentioning. You can also re-spec any time you want at an altar with an item called "blank mask". The biggest flaw is definitely the enemy design. It has been said in multiple reviews already, but it really is ridiculous how many of the enemies are able to phase through the walls and attack you like it's nothing. Not only that, but they can push you out of the map boundaries too, which has happened to me at least two times. Heck, even bumping into the monsters can harm you, without any clear indication of an attack coming out. Overall, Verho is a pretty good game despite it's flaws. It lacks some of that specific charm that Lunacid possesses, but it makes up for it with better replayability.
Good :

The graphics/art style are a vibe
Lore is epic
Many secrets!
Lots of exploration (finding well hidden items)
Lots of cool items, god i love my Fire crossbow
Unlike some games *COUGH* Bloodborne *COUGH* if you use a potion and then die, the potion isnt lost... So you make stocks of items, use a 30 potions agaisnt a boss if needed... If you win YAY, if you die, you just go back to last checkpoint.
Which also means, you cant just run, pick up items and die.. Also some rooms needs keys to be opened. (keys that are not super bright unlike dark souls loot) All this leads to -> Better exploration!
Bad :

Not very challenging (i havnt finished it yet tho)
Wish there was more build types, its only : Strength - Dexterity - Magic
Honestly, im a big souls fan and this would probably be my top 5-6 souls like... but i know my taste are also niche cuz im *special* lol (Ds1 > Nioh2 > Nioh1 > Ds3 > Verho?) All the souls i played are listed on my profile. Anyway, buy this game made by only 3 amazing persons :)
