I played this game for 11 minutes before refunding....in the game's defense it did state how ai was used within this project however I didn't think it would be so immense and apparent. I liked the art style when I first saw this game and became interested but it was an immediate turn off once I saw the ai generated cutscene at the beginning. Even the combat looked wonky with the animations. Overall, from the voice lines and to the cutscenes the addition of ai in my opinion ruined the vision and potential of the game, it looks like a mess.
First cut scene and Ai is obvious, game is somewhat fun and the art style reminded me of lies of p with a bit of salt and sanctuary but dam, Ai is everywhere and i dont support Ai, dont be lazy and do your own artwork.

Let me begin by saying I understand the criticism about generative AI, but the quick response from the devs seems legitimately concerned for player feedback. I’m all for calling out scummy behavior in games development, but this game doesn’t seem to be that. The gameplay is pretty insane, and this seems to be a project built for the right reasons. I can’t wait to see what the finished game will play like. I’ll be one of the first positive reviews to hopefully turn the tide!
Absolutely unplayable. Character keeps turning around when I attempt to simply parry a sweep attack, for no apparent reason. The overuse of AI feels almost like a slap in the face, utter mockery. At this current stage I do NOT and CAN'T recommend this product at all.
Clunky controls, wooden animations, blurry graphics and no settings menu for graphic or sound (only keybindings). No ultrawide support, even though it was confirmed in the FAQ.
This game has potential, and as someone who followed frol the beginning of the development, I extremely LOVE Vaporworld. The painterly style, the characters, the world, the plot, gameplay, everything. But I'm sorry, AI generation CANNOT fulfill that vision. The devs have said they could not achieve that vision they want and instead turned to AI for their cutscenes and voices. No, that's not how it works. The cutscenes were very hard to watch, but stayed until the tutorial was over. I will say, the gameplay and mechanics are actually the only thing I liked seeing. I refunded. However, I believe there is still hope. I hope to see massive changes and actual work from real artists to do the rest of the game, even to the final version of this game. I love Vaporworld, and I hope. So please, to the devs, I wish to see it succeed through organic, raw artwork. Until then, I do plan to re-buy again when the changes are made.
Just adding a good review. To offset all the crying liberals whining about Ai.
So far this game is pretty good, They took out the AI cutscenes already, so all the negative reviews are already at this point moot, and those people haven't even changed their reviews.
Walking and running animation is rough and isn't pleasant to the eyes. It's unfortunate because parts of this game have potential. Literally thought I was buying lies of P as a side scroller. Cutscenes feel weird and out of place.
