I found this game to be a lot of fun and I think it's a hidden gem. If you like souls games or just games with difficult bosses in them, then I recommend giving this one a try. The game art design/ visuals and sound design were very well made. I disagree with a lot of the other reviews that I've seen. I like the combat system. I think it goes farther in depth than how I played it. I did not juggle the skills as you were probably intended, but the few times that I did felt good. My only criticism with the combat is that the shield for some of the bosses felt completely useless. However, that could have been by design. I saw a lot of comments calling the game frustrating, but that's how these games are. Elden Ring was frustrating, but still a great game. So was dark souls. Finally, I don't see how the game is unfair. Once you learn the move set of an enemy they aren't a problem anymore. The moments when your in an arena with a bunch of enemies can be challenging, but very doable. Overall, great game 8.8/10.
Exceptionally good, but also exceptionally difficult - if you play on the 'intended' difficulty level. You can lower the difficulty to 'Traveler' mode, but what self-respecting Soulslike fan is going to do that, right? The art, audio, gameplay, and atmosphere are all great, and it will challenge you in a multitude of ways, yet it never feels 'unfair'. There's no map and limited FOV, making it challenging to explore ... but, you know which important pickups you've missed, and reaching a checkpoint empties the area before it of enemies, so returning to collect missed goodies is straight-forward. Combat is very fast, is often against multiple enemies, and you often have to clear multiple packs of various combinations before you reach a checkpoint ... but, the dodge-invulnerability window is very generous, your own attacks cover a very wide area, and enemy attacks - including bosses - are well-translated with a very clear simplicity and rhythm you should be more than able to pick up on. It does a good job of introducing you to individual enemies, giving you the opportunity to figure out how they work, so that taking them on in groups becomes a natural extension of what you (should have) learned. You'll find the occasional boss fight where you'll be throwing yourself into a meatgrinder over a dozen times before you finally nail it ... but, these encounters often have an extremely short runbacks to mitigate the rage buildup. There are other encounters which are endurance fights, which will slowly whittle you down as you make mistakes ... but, there are medkits (full-heal potions) you can accumulate which you can save for these encounters. If you enjoy Soulslikes, and are up for a familiar-but-fresh kind of challenge, this is well worth your time, because it's developers have created a great twist on an action-Soulslike, that both demands and soothes in the right ways, and is extremely well put-together. It was a joy to play through and I'm looking forward to coming back to it again. Though, one last piece of advice: Pick one of the three starting directions (doesn't matter which - they're all full of different kinds of infuriating nonsense, and have similar challenge levels), and follow its mostly-linear path to completion before starting one of the others. I regret spending time rotating between the earlier parts of each path before moving deeper into next. Don't make the same mistake.
I've played nonstop daily, I've probably played 2-3 hours a day and I'm already at 19 almost 20 hours played, I just unlocked the forth weapon and I have yet do even finish any side quests. This game is amazing and has so many different things to do. Each boss you defeat you get their soul and your able to equip it to a weapon granting you extra abilities basically. The most useful is from one of the first bosses, Sabnock, and it makes the healing orbs that drop give 2 health points back instead of one. This game has so many things to do and I have yet to get bored. I would 10/10 recommend trying, especially for the cheap price it comes for. After playing so much, I believe this game is worth more than they are even selling it for. This is the only game review I've ever written out of every game I have ever played, This is by far my favorite game. I have read through other reviews and I am here to correct their mistakes because they couldn't figure things out. First off. Somebody mentioned playing and not unlocking nay new weapons. There are 4 weapons, and you receive them after certain bosses. There are many bosses in this game, so do not expect to get them quickly as they are spread out between the bosses. Next, somebody mentioned quests being cut off. And I believe this can be true, as the quest for the book piece part two was cut off because the quest giver was corelia which turned out to be the area's main boss at the end and you had to kill her removing the quest. another person mentioned the lack of media on how to do things. But be serious, do you really want to ruin the entire point of the game by getting a complete tutorial. I mean find the things yourself its not even that difficult. Just get better if you really were about to rely on media to find secret sidequests or other things. Spend time and enjoy the game, you can always speedrun later. You can only learn something for the first time once, don't waste it with a tutorial. Took me 20 hours to beat. Was not expecting the ending at all.

There's a lot of promising ideas here but the execution falls pretty flat. The art is wonderful, really vibe with the setting and the music. The storytelling is pretty amateurish, it confuses it cryptic with deep and there really aren't any characters other than the grim reaper analog who has exactly one joke that he keeps repeating over and over. It meanders in a bunch of different directions without actually having any solid ideas. NPCs drop in and out constantly and there's an incredibly simplistic Karma system that only really serves to frustrate anyone attempting to play "good". As usual the enemy is Catholicism, this time in a fun edgy mask, which is just kind of uninspired at this point but not offensive. It doesn't ask any hard or interesting questions nor does it give you a compelling narrative, just the usual "your kid was taken, go get revenge" schtick. The difficulty is stupid, and not "too hard" I mean poorly executed. The game does an OK job of teaching you the rules, not great but not awful, but some sequences are just a pain in the ass and have no methods for alternative solutions. XP is plentiful and enemies and at least cool looking. Combat is pretty simple with one or two fun twists but there's really no different styles, not much customization to be had either. Encounters range from easy to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying (again not too hard, annoying), and the attempt at making the terrain part of the encounters would be laudable if it weren't so frustrating. Especially that stupid area with the flamethrowers. If you can get over all that then it's not awful but there's too many frustrating aspects to be able to recommend. There's a reason this game isn't well known and doesn't have a lot of reviews. You can skip it, there's better things to spend your time on.
My main problem with the game: enemies are very hard to interrupt and will almost never stop attacking after about 50% of the way through the game. a lot of the upgrades in the skill tree encourage you to play like a hack-n-slash (a skill that lets you attack faster and faster so long as you keep dealing damage, healing when you deal enough hits iirc, etc), though the dash mechanic and the enemy design wants you to play like a souls-like. to counter this, the devs made various enemies very hard to interrupt, even with the special attack intended to interrupt enemies (enemies can also heal if you don't attack them within a certain time period). The bosses are fine, there are about 2 hits and 2 misses for main bosses IMO. The attacks are well telegraphed, if not over telegraphed, though some come out faster than you can dodge and catch you on the between frames when doing combos. The bosses aren't the problem though, its the basic enemy design. I have died more on a single enemy arena than I have on any boss in this game (that I have fought, I did not finish the game. The enemy design is that atrocious). The levels are a slog to get through and healing items are extremely limited if you don't use the extra's from dying too many times (I found maybe 10 healing items MAX without the pity items). What makes this game so frustrating is this game actually has really solid controls. The game quite clearly was built to be fun. The problem is the way the game guides you into playing makes the experience extremely frustrating, as often the enemy design feels like the exact opposite. I really wish this game was enjoyable, but it isn't. I was really looking forward to this game back when I got it. I wanted to come back to it around now to see if the devs had changed anything to make the experience better, but no. Sadly, I can not recommend this game with the current state of its enemies.
So good to play and the lore is kinda peak
