About
Dive into a living medieval fantasy sandbox RPG where the world lives and acts with or without you. Villagers follow routines, factions compete for power, dangers roam the land, and every decision can create opportunity or disaster.
Become a thief, hunter, or sellsword. Travel alone or build a party. Hunt, steal, trade, fight, and survive in a fully enterable world where every building, cave, and road can become part of your story.
No fake doors. No decorative cave entrances. If you can reach it, you can enter it.
Create the heroes of your journey. Customize each member of your party’s appearance, hairstyle, physique, and background story to make your mark on the world.
Every choice teaches you something. Earn experience through what you do and unlock skills that keep you alive. Go in loud with brutal weapons, or stay unseen, avoid fair fights, and end threats before they notice you.
The world won’t keep you safe; you’ll have to prepare. Stock up, craft gear, and choose how you live: settle in town by renting a house, or roam freely with camps you can set up between expeditions. Hunt, gather, and craft your loadout, then do whatever it takes to survive.
Valorborn is built around player-driven stories, not a single scripted path. Start small and survive however you can. Steal and sell stolen goods. Live off the wilderness and trade pelts for coin. Take contracts and hunt the dangers stalking roads, ruins, and settlements. Tip faction conflicts in your favor, exploit the chaos for profit, or stay out of politics and carve your own path. Your choices shape your identity, your reputation, and your future.

(Quick Edit: After thinking about it for a bit, and then being reminded when looking on the steam page, them charging $25 for this mess is kind of insane, and pushes me even further on the not recommended side of things. It's an absolute MESS for that price and is absolutely not worth $25 at the moment. Charging $5 less than its near-perfectly realized father, Kenshi, is insane and the devs should be ashamed.) I'm 50/50 between recommend and not recommend. I wish there was a mixed option. I Recommend if you want to support the future of a game like this. I do Not Recommend if you're hoping to hop into the game and play it right now. I (initially, but came back and changed it upon remembering that it cost me $25) reviewed as recommended because I don't want to down-vote this game into being abandoned. There is something here. A diamond DEEP DEEP DEEP in the rough. Maybe someone else can find a lot more to enjoy at the moment than I could. This one is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tough for me. I don't review games often. I think about it often, but I'm usually too lazy to type something up. I want to write something while it's fresh in my mind, but also this game legit gave me a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ migraine. I LOVE Kenshi, with all of my heart. As we all likely know, this game is trying to be a medieval Kenshi. Heavily Kenshi inspired. This game is cursed to forever be sat right next to Kenshi on the bench, and that gives this Dev a STEEP uphill battle, and I commend them for taking it on. This game is Kenshi, but only in pale pale imitation, with weights tied to your arms and legs and you're standing in a raging river. It is ROUGH. And the map starts blacked out, but due to glitches and being able to see parts of the blacked out map, it looks drastically smaller and less diverse than Kenshi's map. (I actually feel bad for saying "this game is Kenshi" a moment ago, that is a disservice to Kenshi.) I have not gotten as frustrated at any game as I did at this one, in YEARS. If you want more detail, I'll post more in the comments of this review. I'm not going to type the details here because I just exited the game and am exhausted from it. I have a headache. I've been wanting to get back into making videos for YouTube (I'm not self-promo-ing, just context) and often take notes while I'm playing a game so I can form a narrative for a video down the road, and so I can remember what I did. 85% - 90% of my notes for this game are not narrative. It was literally impossible to "forge my own story." My notes are 85% - 90% frustration at the mechanics. I'm just going to copy/paste the notes I took into the comments here. They are time-stamped so you can literally just follow my experience of 6 hours of playing the game from today. Everything is there chronologically. I hope the dev sticks to it and makes this game what it absolutely can be. But for now, I can't even respectfully call this early access. I truly feel this game needed A LOT more time in the oven before even being released to early access, this should be labelled a "barely playable play test" or something. It's rough. It's frustrating. If I'm not back within this week for some more (if I come back and have a different experience, I'll update this review), it'll probably be a long long time before I launch the game again, granted it not becoming abandoned. But there are also hundreds of other games in my library I want to, and would rather play.) But it's fine, keep my money, Dev. Just make this game great. It could be great. Please make it great, Dev.
Not sure how this can be an open world sandbox game where you click to move. WASD movement is needed along with jumping so you can go just about anywhere. This game is not worth the time
Horrible Tutorial I gave up after trying 2 times just to get Thru the Tutorial!
Honestly the game has potential but it is certainly lacking content and has alot of small bugs some being with quests just not being able to be completed because some of the npcs just dont spawn others like not being able to loot certain chests because of how they are placed, not all of the map is developed which isnt a big deal for me i feel the game will go through some great improvements in time but be ready to find bugs and empty areas of the map till then
nice game, yes bugs, but still a nice game
I recommend this game if they can follow through to the end. This is very early access. Only one programmer is working on this and it shows. They really need the funding to hire more programmers. If you have the available funds to contribute and get this game off the ground then it would surely help them out in getting this game fleshed out more quickly. Concept is there and what I would consider a "rough draft".
the type of game this is, it just isnt as good as older games and current games of this type. the play is a bit wonky. ill try again after the developers have time to improve play.
Bevor this Game adds Content they should fix AAAAALLLLLLLOOOOOOTTT of QoL things ! 1 Pathfinding is an absolut mess ! 2 You can't quit a Menue with Escape O.o this is a HUGE no GO !!! 3 the Damagenumbers visualization is ugly as hell, same for the Design for Quest Textes 4 Every few meters of Moving the Camera, I've got mini Lags 5 i am not a big detracor of graphics but i have to say the world textures are horrible O.o 6 Game-mechanics in common feel all a bit clunky And last but not least : I DON'T NEED MAGIC IN THIS GAME !!! Let me return to this Review to the end of the year 2026 ...
