Usurper Soulbound is a fantastic Soulslike game that offers a challenging and engaging experience. The gameplay is top-notch, the Roguelite elements are well-implemented, and the graphics, while not exceptional, add to the overall atmosphere of the game. While the combat might be a bit slow for some, this is a minor drawback and is more than outweighed by the game's many strengths. If you're a fan of Soulslike games or Roguelites, Usurper Soulbound is definitely worth checking out.
Some one more forgiving and less particular than my self could really enjoy this game and it's cheap so maybe give it a shot regardless of my scathing review. What ever excuses of its only made by X number of people with a tiny budget as one of their first games some one may make do not particularly matter to me, only the end product does. In this case it falls short. The animations are very slow and clunky providing the hand eye coordination of immersion breaking. Hit boxes are so all over the place that I cant tell if the dodge has I-frames or not because some times what I see tells me they must exist and other times that they cant possibly. The price point is good but for my self if this was free I still wouldn't play it.
+ Simplistic, but pleasant graphics. + Good music and sound accompaniment. + Good character development system, constant reinforcement of the hero as the game progresses. + Quite a few types of equipment. + It is possible to play in co-op.
Usurper: Soulbound is a wonderful take on rougelike dungeon crawlers. It's not without its issues but I see amazing potential in it. I found it highly addictive and the usurp mechanic to be pretty refreshing and original. Combines elements of some of my favorite Action RPG's. Definitely something im happy to keep in my list and watch as it grows. Keep up the good work!
Usurper: Soulbound is a wonderful addition to the hack-and-slash genre. Every Diablo fan should try this one out. I’ve always wanted to see what it’s like to control a villain when slashing enemies during my Diablo sessions. The necromancer class from Diablo II gives you a little bit of that — you can animate a killed fiend and make it fight by your side; nevertheless, in Diablo, conquered enemies are acting as NPCs. In Usurper: Soulbound you can literally take control of your enemies in real time during battles, etc. It’s like mixing Diablo with the good old Messiah PC games. The concept is mind-blowing. Overall, the climate brings back the memories of playing Grim Fandango on my good old PC — Usurper: Soulbound also revolves around dead characters in a similar way; older gamers should know what I’m saying. Usurper: Soulbound also has a great fighting model. In the Diablo series, you focus more on collecting items, which enhance your fighting skills, but here you have to develop a certain fighting style to get through. Moreover, the graphics are decent; fans of isometric perspective should be satisfied.
Usurper: Soulbound is a game that truly deserves the attention of souls-like fans everywhere. With its dark and immersive purgatory setting, it transports players to a world full of undead and spirits, offering a challenging dungeon-crawling experience that is both engaging and satisfying. One of the game's most unique mechanics is the possession ability, which allows players to usurp the bodies of enemies and take control of them. This adds a new tactical dimension to the game, allowing players to make strategic choices before engaging bosses and other tough enemies. The combat system in Usurper: Soulbound is reminiscent of Dark Souls and other similar games, offering heavy strikes, dodging, blocking, and environmental kills. The graphics are absolutely stunning, with a dark and jagged design that perfectly captures the feeling of being on a real battlefield. The little dialogues available in the game is well-written and adds to the immersive RPG atmosphere/story. The stats system and playstyle does add a little personalization to the gameplay, and the multiplayer mode is a great way to socialize while taking on dungeons and bosses together with a friend. Overall, Usurper: Soulbound is an excellent addition to the souls-like genre. It's clear that the developers have put a lot of care and attention into creating a game that is both challenging and rewarding. Fans of the genre are sure to love this one, and it's definitely worth checking out for anyone who enjoys a good dungeon-crawling adventure.
Usurper: Soulbound is a promising Souls-like RPG that has captured my attention since its Early Access release. The game mechanics, which involve "usurping" the bodies of defeated enemies and using their unique abilities to progress through the game, add a refreshing twist to the genre. The game's single player and local multiplayer campaigns are fully playable and provide hours of entertainment. The procedurally generated dungeon floors in the crypt world offer a decent challenge and replayability. Although the game is still in Early Access, the developers have shown a clear commitment to improving the game through community feedback. Bugs and issues have been addressed in a timely manner, and the game has received regular updates with new content and improvements. While the current content is relatively limited, the developers have a clear roadmap for future updates, including more enemies, bodies to usurp, equipment, and more. I am excited to see how the game will evolve and improve over time. The only downside I have encountered so far is the price point. At $12, the game is a bit expensive for an Early Access title, but I believe it's worth the investment if you're a fan of the Souls-like genre and want to support a promising indie developer.
The game is a blast. The combat feels punchy and rewarding, the music is atmospheric and so are the sound effects you could say, all of it works together really well. Not gonna lie though, the game is pretty damn hard, but conquering it is worth it, especially after you realize what is the game's unique selling point which is the ability to take over the bodies of the enemies you face. Since each of them have different stats and weapons you will be actively considering which one suits your needs the best and actively strategizing whilst fighting hordes of enemies(though you can't go switching from one enemy to the other, you have a limited amount of power for that), on top of that there's also some environmental interaction too, you can use the traps set out for you in taking down your foes. All in all a fascinating game and I highly recommend you check it out if you are into rouge/soul-likes.
Great action rpg game, you need to think and do a lot Special things to pass the level and not screw it up, I personally like these indie style rpg roguelikes, I advise everyone. If you really like roguelikes, then you can leave a look at this because there are very beautiful graphics and good dialogues
