it is a fun short game
This is a fun game. It has a lot of really good elements to it, the bow's great to use, the climbing felt satisfying, and it felt so good to assassinate guards, however. An issue I did run into was the guards not losing track of me after I shot an arrow right next to them, and it did feel odd that while hiding the bodies it made a lot of noise which made me not want to even try and hide them, not knowing that it doesn't attract the other guards, still I love this game and hope that I can get by these issues. So in short, thank you for this game and please don't let go of it.
Update: 20 minutes later it’s over… can’t even play the last chapter. Guess I’m done with “early” access games. Obviously it’s not going anywhere and I spent money on 3 chapters that took no time. Too much to get a refund though. Thanks dev team. I'm a couple chapters in and I'm definitely enjoying this even with all the jank - classic Thief vibes in VR is so nice! I wish it was a little less janky but still having a lot of fun playing. I wish the puzzles were a little harder and knowing what's death/off-limits would be helpful... dying by walking down steps is strange for a video game...
Short, abandoned in EA, but still the best stealth in VR and the closest thing to Thief series. The game really gets that you need good lighting and darkness for immersive stealth gameplay, and it beats even most of the modern flat screen games in this aspect. The shadows are absolutely dense, and you can understand, when enemy do not see you in them. It is always clear whether you are being noticed or not, thanks to dynamic music, guards chatter and movements and unobtrusive GUI elements. AI is dumb but it has all the expected responses to hearing or noticing the player, or finding a corpse. Physically crouching to hide behind or below something is a lot of fun; pickpocketing, drop down kills and backstabs are extremely satisfying. Archery is pretty mediocre, but it is optional - you can beat the game without shooting a single arrow. The game is only 1.5-3 hours long depending on playstyle and willingness to find optional loot. It ends abruptly on the final not finished chapter. Visuals still look very nice despite their age, again thanks to great lighting. Performance is not the best though. Works on Reverb G2.
Being a big fan of Thief, I am not capable of expressing what I've felt being inside a similar world with similar mechanics... my heart really ponded. Looking up, selecting with my hand a water arrow to throw it at a torch to put it out!! Boy! It was wonderful... Unfortunately for me, this game appear to be in a very early stage and my asus strix g17 with 32gb of ram and geforce rtx3070 kept going bluescreen and restarting on this one... I DEFINITELY recommend the good part of the experience, the game atmosphere is immersive af and I really really really hope the devs keep an eye to (probably rare) cases like mine... just this one and bloodtrail gives me trouble. Every other game (VR included) run smooth.
Wow, "Thief" and "Assasins Creed" in VR! I could be so cool ... which it actually is but only for 4 Levels, then the game stops. I played 1,8 hours, done. Don't waste 17 bug on that.
