An older game but still very fun in 2022. Easy to use controls and lots of challenges to keep ya busy. Unlock new places and new planes for even more to do. Plays very smooth. Needs multiplayer to spice things up with friends!!

[th]
ALL MY CURATED VR REVIEWS: US420 Gamers
[/th]

Purer Genuss :) Volle Kaufempfehlung. Mein Rechner: 3.1 to 5.1 MacPro Frankintosh with Intel Xenon 5690 @ 3.59 GHz, 6 Core / 12 Threads, 32 GB RAM and GTX 1070 8GB, Win10 PRO läuft in Bootcamp, viel Spaß mit Steam VR in hohen Grafikeinstellungen auf der Rift CV1 mit Open TPcast Wireless =) This is about the VR version. Tested both Steam and PSVR ... let's go: Even if you see only few minutes I used Ultrawings in Steam - it is due to the fact that I owned the game on PS4 before I started to migrate my VR gaming to PC and Steam. If you want to get the feeling of flying, the feeling of altitude - this is your game. If you are looking for an arcady but real feeling of steering - this is your game. If you are looking for a sophisticated hundreds of buttons flipping flight sim - stay away. I love this game it gives an awesome VR experience and I manly just cruise around for an hour in different aircrafts. Pure pleasure :) I would buy it again. My Setup: 3.1 to 5.1 MacPro Frankintosh with Intel Xenon 5690 @ 3.59 GHz, 6 Core / 12 Threads, 32 GB RAM and GTX 1070 8GB, running Win10 PRO in Bootcamp, very capable of Steam VR in high graphic fidelity on Rift CV1 with OpenTPcast wireless =)
Such a fun casual flying sim with a various types of missions and plenty of content. The controls for the Index are very easy to use and flying is a smooth experience once you get the hang of it. I recommend putting on a playlist or podcast to listen to while playing.
EDIT: I, like many players, now can no longer get past the "Press a Button" screen as the game doesn't register any inputs. Devs have provided no solutions. DO NOT BUY! The game is dead content at this point. Out of the box, with no further additions, this game is pretty solid. The world is beautiful, the flying is fun, there's an enjoyable progression system that will take you to lovely places, the flying is intuitive but can become very challenging. The base game is great! But the second you try to plug in a HOTAS? Holy hell. You can tell the devs were absolutely dreading the task of "supporting" HOTAS; I've never seen a flying game with such a miserable hack job of a HOTAS system. They dragged their feet for months while the community requested a frankly base feature for a flight game. Configuring the controls is bad enough but, this game has this horrible habit of disabling one or more control systems every single time you boot the game. The devs have completely dropped any support for players and pumped out a second Ultrawings. Thanks lads, honourable work. So fine, don't use HOTAS then, right? Well, try getting gold on the more advanced airplanes with floaty-ass controls that frequently don't connect to the systems you are trying to manage. It's infuriating. HOTAS would solve this problem perfectly, as it does with most other aviation games, but it doesn't work here. Further, achievements are now broken, and the simplest task of implementing cloud saves is neglected. I looked into Ultrawings II and guess what? Same thing: heaps of complaints that things are broken and the devs show zero inclination to fix anything. It's surprising and tragic that such a fun game has such crappy devs behind it.
A very bad game. First of all, you can't reposition where any of the controls are in the cockpit, which is an issue for me, since the game puts the ultralight's joystick in my crotch. Combine this with a complete and total lack of any useful information, such as aircraft attitude or altitude, and controls that make it feel my stick movements are less of an order and more of a suggestion, and you have an overall very poor experience.
Purchased a while back but never got into with an XBOX ONE S controller. Recently got a Logitech hotas so I decided to give it another chance. Total pain in the you know what to map the controller but I finally prevailed which made the game so much more enjoyable. The game doesn't offer custom mapping so it needs to be done manually via configuration files within it's directory structure. These files load when you launch the game and assign the custom mapping so your hotos works properly. The XBOX ONE S works great by default but as far as setting up a hotas flight stick you may struggle to get it going without guidance. I pretty much got it working by reading a few tips online and working it out via trial and error. I studied and modified some of the files from another controller schema to make it work with my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro hotas. I edited some of the files in ... C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Ultrawings\Ultrawings_Data\StreamingAssets\Data\Config\Controller\Schema\VIVEGamepad with files found in .. C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Ultrawings\Ultrawings_Data\StreamingAssets\Data\Config\Controller\Schema\SaitekRhinoRift That allowed me to successfully map the pitch, roll, flaps and throttle. It works flawless along with the HP Reverb G2.
