I highly recommend TWO MONTHS! It offers a ton to challenge. It kind of takes me back to the NES days when games were very unforgiving. Your reflexes and your fortitude will be tested! So if you are up for a challenge this game is right up your alley!

TWO MONTHS is a very good souls-like. It contains a lot of different enemies (with special attacks as well) and 6 bosses (one is optional and needed for optional ending). Character development is based on using a grid. At first it has 4x4 squares and can be expanded up to 8x8 squares. There are 12 different upgrade types (tetris-like shapes, 4 squares) which can be put into this grid. At first each type is randomly dropped from enemy, found in a chest or acquired from NPC, then is can also be bough from merchant. Each upgrade has also it's own level and upper limit (for instance Attack Up 2/7 means 20 % to damage and can be leveled up to 7/7 which means 70 % to damage). Don't do the same mistake I did during my first playthrough (which took me 16 hours compared to 7 hours for the second one). This is not Dark Souls regarding the build approach. You can (and should) try different builds when struggling and this is exactly where the game shines. Be always prepared to use at least several Health Ups and Attack Ups with either Stability Ups or Recovery Ups+Evade Ups and change the build according to situation.
a wonderful love letter to the souls series, simple and intuitive combat and a unique upgrade system, a great time for souls fans. absolutely loved it
Pure gamey game. This game is purely a game, you play the game, it's a good game. Yea.
Get immersed in the harrowing tale of the Dragonbox Pyra handheld computer development saga. An excellent entry in the souls-like genre with exciting boss fights, great exploration of an interconnected dungeon, and a strong feeling of character progression as you play. The “Tetris” stat allocation and leveling system is genius and I loved how I could build my character to be a hard hitting glass cannon or have loads of stamina. While you don’t level up a character, you level up Tetris Piece stats which allow you to modify your character’s build on the fly. It adds an interesting random loot component to the game and it’s fun to run through areas again to look for secrets and level up. This game is just pure fun and quite addictive. It can be pretty hilarious at times, and some of the encounters amount to a real challenge. That said, the final boss was poorly balanced and felt extremely unfair. I hope the developer fixes the final boss encounter, because it's the only issue I experienced with the game. Two Months reminds me a lot of the original King’s Field for PS1. This is a must play for souls-like fans who don’t mind a simpler approach to the genre and blocky visuals.
This game deserves way more recognition, it is a very good souls like with some original ideas, most of them are very good. The good: -tetris puzzle leveling system (it's fun trying to figure out the best placement for the pieces to give you the best stats) -coffee (it's nice that you can drink as much as you want, not a specific amount like estus flasks / blood vials) -the world design is the best since Dark Souls 1, there is a part in this game that really reminds me of going down the Undead Parish elevator to see Firelink Shrine which was great The bad - boring visually (I don't mean graphics as i understand that it is a small indie game, however all areas are just gray / yellow boxes) -2 of the 5 bosses' arenas are horrible, most of my deaths in the fights were due to falling off, not because the bosses were too hard (the 2 bosses themselves were great, especially the second one) -Sen's Blighttown (at times the difficulty in this area feels unfair) Overall the game has a great charm and I would recommend it to fans of FromSoftware's games
Got a few hours through this. My main advice is make use of the lock-on button! I was stuck on the first boss until re-reading the controls. It is difficult! You can form strategies to trick enemies instead of fighting them - learning the movement patterns and judging distance and how to attack. You will die a lot, but you will also get random drops that you can use to make you stronger. The game is a lot of fun and that is in spite of Steam trying to tell me this is not for me! The fun is when the winning strategy falls into place and you get that bit further! PS: I am a mighty mage and I will cast a spell on you if you don't play this game! *nods*
cool game underrated
Two months is a hard but fair challenge with an irreverent tone and a unique character progression and customisation. The bosses are challenging and varied but at the same time the upgrade system allows you to approach them in multiple ways, whether you want to focus on evading and poking at the best opportunity, bulk up your health and tank while being aggressive or even turtling with your shield. There is a escalating challenge throughout the environments with enemies, map design and hazards becomes more complex and deadly but can be raced through once your familiar with them. I've not experienced any major bugs or slowdown throughout my game play and the only thing I'd really want as an addition would like the option to create and swap between upgrade presets.
