Fantastic. The icing on the cake is the destruction physics. This feels like a game I loved when I was playing my classic Xbox, but modernized in all the best ways, and the grime and grit of yonder years left in place. 9.8/10.
Kinda... Five Nights at Freddy's in a Bioshock Tower. Admittedly wicked cool setting and world building, but there's a few too many matrix glitch jumpscares for me. You know that safe bit you cleared before... its nice and ... a buncha guys spawn on top of you! Woo! Still, its kinda like the funhouse carnival theme of the whole thing - its a ride.

TLDR: If the game is on sale go ahead and grab it. But coming from "The Great Thomas Brush", I really expected more from the half baked, confusing story, and bioshock ripped game. ==== If you are only interested in gameplay and the game is on sale, go for it. The gunplay is the best experience about the game. The negative review comes from the story and the environment and the enemies. The game borrows, oh wait, sorry, the game directly steals most of its enemies from bioshock directly. Behavior from the leadhead, houdini, spider splicer, even the attack bots are all there in the enemies. Maybe one or two unique ones, but the game shoehorns them in at the very end to where they dont really factor into the game at all. At least bioshock had some "variety" in its areas. You generally had a main hub with multiple offshoots to go an do "quests" in whatever order you chose. If certain paths werent necessary or had secret items, you didnt HAVE to go down them. This game is the dictionary definition of LINEAR. You walk in a straight line and kill whatever spawns in. Once again, this is objectively fun to some extent because the gunplay is well made, but by the 3rd environment there is no more coming. Be ready for 3 more hours of walking and shooting. Good lord the story. For what its worth, I initially thought it was gonna be some contrived "dead wife/fiance" dream state and the coming to terms with grief. It wasnt. Instead it was a star wars "i am your father" twist that feels so contrived and boring. It took a genuinly interesting character and made him boring and plain. The demented clown leading you through the halls of the great twisted tower is just a dead beat dad who peaked years ago. SPOILERS: === And who TF is charlotte? The ending cutscene she says "daddy" implying twister is her father as well. Maybe she's just talking out her backside at Vincent, but this whole ending feels setup to make YT videos in the same vain as FNaF in order to generate buzz around the game. KNowing the dev, I would NOT be surprised if that was the case. Please hit me over the head more with Goldfish. The idea that this presumably normal adult man would see nothing wrong with this whole setup til the very end makes the protagonist, who once again YOU PLAY AS, seem like the dumbest character in the world. Which is the ONLY way the whole twist comes off. In the end I didnt really care to save Charlotte at all. Its obvious she ends up at the top of the tower. Yet at some point you go DOWN to the mermaid palace to look for her? Not because she is actually going to be there, but simply because the quest marker says to. Every single time you see her, she is yanked up. Once again, our protagonist must have bricks for brains. ====
- Letters are displayed line after ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ line, so I stopped caring about the story pretty fast. - Level design is meh. Very linear, no real highlights, everything is clowntown. - No manual saving. Save point locations are sometimes poorly placed, forcing you to collect the same stuff every time you reload. - Enemy damage and health on Hard are a bit too high. - No bugs encountered. - Graphically, it's fine. - Enemy variety is ok. - Gunplay is just ok. - Maybe it gets better later on, but as of now I have zero motivation to make it to the end.
Чудесный камерный мини-биошок. На удивление хорошо и плотно собранный шутер, очень и очень рекомендую. Приключение всего на ~6 часов, но это очень качественные и весёлые 6 часов.
Twisted Tower is a decent shooter with a great style, totally worth checking out.
Saw the trailer for this game pop up on Tiktok and it instantly piqued my interest. A Bioshock-like FPS with a carnival theme to it? So, naturally, I bought it the day it released, and after giving it a go, I'd say its a charming little thing. When it comes to the story and theming, many others have brought up the comparisons of Bioshock and Willy Wonka. While not unfounded, myself and my mates were reminded of an old arcade rail shooter, Carnevil. It's the one thing I give the game props for; there's not many horror games out that go all-in on the carnival/circus themes, and this one does so in spades. It has that eerie vibe with some decent spooky moments that have you pause and go "what the hell". The story itself is pretty intriguing, with characters like Vincent and Charlotte having some depth to them, their backstories given through lore notes. The main villain, Mr. Twister, is definitely the one in the spotlight; he's comically villainous whose reasons for creating the Twisted Tower and its downfall being just as rich. It's the gameplay, however, that holds the game up. The combat and gunplay is satisfying, which all still keeps the fun carnival theming. Wacky, unconventional guns with unique alternative modes; costumed mascots, creepy clowns and even demonic telephones make up the roster; utilizing tickets and carnival food for money and health; platforming and a few puzzle elements that utilize goofy upgrades you can find as you progress through the story. There's even alternate routes you can take once you beat the game, adding a little bit of a variety to future playthroughs if you fancy. Performance wise, the game ran pretty smoothly, no crashes or stuttering in the slightest, which is apparently a coin toss with these unity games. When it comes to the negatives, there's only a few I can bring up. For one, a good chunk of the lore is held within the lore notes you find, with most of them really only pertaining to the main characters. There's not much environmental story telling or any active moments that tell you about the history of where you are and such. Another issue was the music can be kinda repetitive, especially in the big arena fights where it feels out of place for the setting. The game could've done with some boss fights before the BIG boss fight, and the voice acting, while done with gusto, can also feel out of place, but that's more on the writing than any voice actor's fault. Like what a lot of others have said in their reviews, if there was a neutral option for me to choose, It'd be that. Despite my given issues, everything else about it is pretty kino. It exudes early 2000s video gaming, like something you'd find on the Xbox 360 marketplace, which is meant as a compliment. Props to the Atmos team on this one. Overall, I give Twisted Tower a 7/10.
Loved this game. The story is simple. Find your girl, beat bad man, upgrade weapons. The enemies were fun and varied. Would of liked it if their were some mini bosses. 4 to 5 hour run through, secret areas, some feels of BioShock were in this game. Music was good, voice acting was also great, 9/10
Fun bioshock-lite, and seriously impressive considering it was made by just a few individuals. With that said, normal mode (and hard mode) were way easier than expected, and the storyline was a bit wonky, especially the ending.
This game has a lot of charm to it. I like the design of the tower and the set pieces. My biggest gripe with the game is with the combat. The game seems to think that difficulty only comes from throwing enemies at you left and right. So many times you’re locked in a room as tons of enemies attack you. This is fine at first, but it becomes more frustrating than fun as the game goes on. A lot of the enemies have large ranged attacks so it feels like you’re at a constant disadvantage. Especially because ammo is not so common in the game. This is made worse because there are so many weapons in the game. At a certain point less is more with weapons. You're finding ammo to weapons you don’t use anymore because they’re outclassed by outlet weapons. I think this game would benefit from fine tuning the enemy placement and frequency. This game doesn’t feel like a game that needs so much combat since exploration is equally important to the story. I recommend this game because of the price and because it’s an indie developer. It is clear a lot of love went into the game. If this was a little more expensive, I would not recommend this game because of how much I hate the combat.
