Champy the Useless Vampire

The adventure is short and enjoyable, making it ideal for those new to the genre. The story begins with a dying Dracula, who has been poisoned by vampire hunters. His only chance for survival is the grail. However, because the majority of his family has died, Champy, his banished grandson, is the only one who can save him. Unfortunately, he is clumsy, and as soon as he returns to Dracula's castle, he locks up the vault. He now has to explore the castle and locate the three keys. Gameplay adheres to the established rules of point-and-click adventure games rather than attempting to invent new ones. You only require a mouse with a left mouse button. All you need to do is move the pointer and click on the interaction spots. Your hero will take the proper action on his own, such as commenting or collecting the object. Items are kept in inventory and can be examined, combined, or used on hotspots. The difficulty is pretty easy, making it ideal for beginners. Locations include only a few hotspots, a limited number of items, and there are hints that tell you exactly what to do. Additionally, if you click and hold the mouse button, you will see all possible hotspots. Saving is a bit problematic. The game saves automatically whenever you enter a new room. So, if you pick up stuff and quit the game before entering a new room, you will have to restart from the moment you entered it. Achievements are fine, however a few can be missed if you do not look thoroughly.

A very small adventure game of classic point & click type. It is nice to see the graphics being drawn, not 3D. Besides, the story is interesring and puzzles are very logical - but as a result you can complete it in about an hour! Unfortunately, I also had one critical bug (and had to restart) - and the achievements did not work for me at all. Still, I would definitely recommend it to all fans of classic adventure games - but it would be better to buy this game at a sale.

Nett aber kurz. Ein ordentliches Adventure, was in knapp 2 Stunden durchgespielt ist. Der Comicstil und der Humor haben mir gefallen. Die Rätsel sind zumeist sehr leicht, erfahrene Spieler könnten sich unterfordert fühlen. Wer doch einmal hängen bleibt, der nutzt die interne Hilfe. Was mich an der kurzen Story ein wenig gewundert hat, ist, dass z.B. die eingeführten Handlanger des Vatikan später gar nichts mehr mit der Geschichte zu tun haben, und man mal eben die Geschichte auch so abschließen kann. Auch hätte man die Nebenquest mit dem verliebten Handlanger zu einem (lustigen) Ende bringen können. Das hätte der Story vielleicht noch ein wenig mehr Pepp gegeben und die Spielzeit etwas gestreckt. Nichtsdestotrotz kann man das Spiel im Sale dennoch empfehlen, wenn man für einen Abend einen Lückenfüller sucht. Fazit: jetzt hab' ich Hunger auf einen Döner - mit Tzatziki :-)

It was a fun 1,5h, but I was afraid to leave the game because it only has an autosave and it's pretty wonky. For example I quit the game during the 1st scene to adjust volume in the options and restarting 1st put me in the beggining of the scene and then stuck on the tutorial page forcing a shutdown, then reloading the game put in the 2nd scene completely skipping the 1st. Apart from that playing without loading from scratch worked as intended. Fair puzzles, servicable voice-acting, good visual style. So a thumbs-up even with the mention above bugs, but there are things that the game is missing and the upcoming the Mystery of Doomsday Vallley (currently on kickstarter) needs to have: -Manual saving -Double-click instant travel -Ability to access options without leaving to main menu -Less clunky dialogue skipping

super fun and entertaining game. I really enjoyed it - no need for a walkthrough - the hint engine is super useful and non-spoilery

Desarrollado por True Ascension, un pequeño estudio indie compuesto por apenas dos desarrolladores, "Champy the Useless Vampire" es una aventura gráfica Point & Click que pese a su condición bienintencionada deviene en anodina para los jugadores más curtidos en el género en tanto en cuanto desaprovecha gran parte de su potencial. La premisa es mínimamente atractiva pero la ejecución deja bastante que desear. El apartado artístico es funcional y aseado, con un estilo visual que aún careciendo de mayor identidad y personalidad cumple su propósito sin mayor afectación. Los escenarios y personajes tienen un diseño correcto, pero sin el carisma necesario para destacar. Las animaciones tienden demasiado a la simplicidad y en según qué personajes secundarios (los zombies) son incluso negligentes. Respecto a los puzles, el juego evita la lógica obtusa o "Moon logic" y es de agradecer. No obstante, los desafíos resultan demasiado obvios y directos, con una gestión testimonial de inventario, pocos objetos y un selector de diálogos mínimo, eliminando prácticamente cualquier sensación de satisfacción al resolverlos. Además, caso de ser necesario, su "sistema de pistas" es implacablemente directo, quitándole la poca gracia que pudiera tener. La duración de la propuesta ronda las dos horas lo que deja poco margen para desarrollar una experiencia más profunda o mínimamente memorable, y no por el tiempo efectivo de juego (que es irrelevante) sino por la mediocridad general del conjunto. Por cierto, los logros de Steam están "bugeados" y en ocasiones no los conceden. Parece ser un problema aleatorio, que yo también he padecido. Para concluir, el tono del juego aspira a ser divertido y ligero, pero conmigo no ha logrado alcanzar su objetivo. Los personajes me parecen demasiado unidimensionales y sus interacciones superficiales. Además, la producción se siente barata y lo evidencia constantemente, desde el diseño de los retos hasta la limitada variedad de localizaciones, pasando por una OST que pasa desapercibida y un doblaje apenas funcional y un tanto impersonal. Con todo, es una propuesta lo suficientemente amable y sencilla como para no ser del todo desdeñable, máxime para introducir a los críos en el género. Además, suele estar a precio de derribo en las promociones de descuento de Steam (a dos euros y poco, como mucho).

Ein ganz tolles Point und Click Spiel , aber leider viiiiieeeel zu kurz . Voll empfehlenswert , lohnt sich wirklich .

Adorable and fun! Is it a masterpiece? Can't say, but definitely a great addition to the Point and Click genre! The two guys who created this game deserve massive congratulations! Please, keep them coming! I'll keep buying ;)

True he may not meet Dracula's standards… or any other vampire's standards but that doesn't make him useless… I think. Champy the Useless Vampire is a comedic point and click adventure with a few puzzles to solve. The game doesn't feel like it was meant to be challenging but it was definitely made to have fun and make you have a chuckle or two. It's a lighthearted story about Champy, who seems to have done something or things that don't quite measure up to what a vampire should be, thus deemed useless and "banished" from Dracula's castle. As you play his short story, you find out that he is actually quite clever. As a point and click, those will be your main controls. Controls don't veer from the norm when it comes to point and click games, and you get a quick recap of what those are very early in the game. My full playthrough probably took around an hour to an hour and a half while I explored and had my "AHA!" moments solving the next steps of what I had to do. Once I had those figured out it was smooth sailing. It’s a very relax, and cozy point and click while, as I mentioned, giving a chuckle or two. The hand-drawn cartoon art style also adds to that nostalgic cartoon feel of the 90's but much more polished. Also a positive note is the amazing voice actors. They did a great job in their deliveries, so claps for them 👏👏👏 All in all, without spoiling the whole story, Champy the Useless Vampire is a fun, refreshing and relaxing point and click game for everyone, so I definitely recommend checking it out. Corto y entretenido. Es bastante sencillo para una tarde cozy. Me ha gustado mucho.
