Came into this thinking it was going to be like Zelda, then I realized it's just an extremely unresponsive top-down dark souls with none of the satisfaction of playing an actual souls game and the increasingly annoying gimmick of the instruction manual. So glad I didn't pay full price for this.
Trying to figure this game out was one of the most fun experiences I've had in a while. I recommend playing this with as little spoilers or even knowledge of the game beforehand hand as possible.
This game was great until it became bad. Do you do no hit level 1 Dark Souls runs? Then this is the game for you. So you are a fox person and you wake up on a foreign shore with no direction, so naturally you pick up a stick and proceed to murder everything you encounter. Fortunately, signs point the way to a grave you can rob for a sword. You can't read the signs but they helpfully have a picture. Fun ensues as your genocidal quest leads to challenging enemies, exploration, and lots of secrets you can find by walking into every area outside the camera view. Then you reach the quarry. Multiple enemies are a problem in soulslikes and they start to show up here, along with a mechanic that lowers your maximum health. Not permanently, but until you save. Then you get a gas mask and you're cool again, until enemy attacks start doing it too (as well as washing out the screen in painfully bright magenta light). Then you fight the Boss Scavenger and the game comes grinding to a halt right before the twist for the second half of the game. Split-second timing? I would kill for a split-second, you have less chance to react to his telegraphed attacks that frequently chain together (and he has a shotgun on a hair trigger). You need to find the pages of the game manual that has the hints to solve all the final puzzles. Once it was a bit cryptic, now you have to full on decrypt the language, and then fight your way through obnoxious enemies. Did I mention you are dead and all your stat upgrades are reset until you restore each of them individually? Invisible ghosts with long attack ranges? Sure why not. Also things appear to be powered with the enslaved souls of fox ghosts. There is a factory in continuous operation storing thousands of souls per hour in their own gigantic steel boxes activated by prayer. Stuck? You probably can't see a ramp or a ladder somewhere because of the camera. Also, now you have to deal with night and day having different available pathways. This is an obnoxiously difficult soulslike and an obnoxiously obtuse puzzle game with an obvious homage to The Legend of Zelda (the first, and notoriously difficult and obtuse one). If that's you then go nuts. For most gamers this is a hard pass, even with the accessibility options. THERE IS A NO FAIL OPTION. Alternatively an enjoy being juggled and getting a swing in every now and then mode. It's a shame since it started very promising and turned into something else. Dark Souls had the decency to roll a bounder down the first set of stairs and get you to the Asylum Demon quickly. It let you know what you were in for.
extreme frustrating combat and save system.
神作,看说明手册然后慢慢解密,这成就感绝了,还有类魂一样的战斗感觉。 缺点也很明显,全靠玩家去解密所有的信息。而且战斗手感说实话不太好,玩家手太短了。
ZERO SPOILERS (not done yet myself) this game is truly amazing, it itches my brain in ways ive never felt before, please give it a real chance i mean it. you cant regret it.a
Just play this masterpiece. You can not trust your parents or your siblings, but trust me and play this game. Welcome.
so cute
