You are alone on an island, trying desperately to survive amongst the village tribes of savages. To do this you need food, water, and shelter. Hunt animals, plant crops, tame and breed animals, make weapons, armors and potions, raid villages, defend your base, fight with big creatures...

Not bad. I'm enjoying the building aspect but I wish more of the pieces snapped together better. Food and water are not an issue which is nice. I haven't checked out a dungeon yet but I'm looking forward to trying them out tomorrow. The graphics are better than most free games! The crossbow is the best weapon early on as the tools don't really work for melee.

"Trials of Wilderness" is a lame Unity asset flip, basically the developer ripped off a survival game blueprint from the Unity Asset Store, dropped a few assets on it, slapped his name on it and dumped it on Steam to try to get your money for someone else's Unity assets. This is never okay. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was trying to scam gamers out of $15 USD for this asset flip. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this asset flip to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
