I saw toby the fox mention this game during the last newsletter and i was curious enough to play through it however i will call the dev evil, that right you are a evil dev making sneak a little guy who shows up behind you and is probably the only little guy i need to bonk in the head to get 100%, he is probably laughing at me living in one of those dark rooms that i probably wouldn't have thought to check behind me so now he get to remain free while his 419 friends got the bonk.. evil evil dev......... good game however
There are many horrors in the world, and you are a rat with a bat. It's a lot of fun! Takes a little practice to make good use of controls (don't forget that you can dash!), but don't you worry - it doesn't take long before you can get some mobility options, and then more weapons, and other things as well. I do quite like how the game's achievements (and different ways to beat the game) form a trail of breadcrumbs leading you to doing a speedrun. Also... the game's really smooth? Doesn't seem to cheat its NES-ish resolution and it runs at 60 fps, and yet!
Where is peter shorts ?
this feels like a GOTY made after some world melting apocalyptic event presented by a radioactively balding geoff keighly on a pile of detritus. it looks small and simple in every way, built to run on the sparest of computing hardware pulled from a microwave, but the dev bled and sweat over every detail to make the most of what they didn't have. by default all the action lives in a cozy square display ratio. there's a tight flashlight and bat attack combo that forces some clever management to wield. every enemy feels like a mini boss with a unique look, mechanic to solve, and won't go down in one hit. and there's so much context and sense of place in the level design. lockers can be smacked for coins, vending machines will drop snacks for health which persist, and each room has a name reflecting its theme and what can be found inside it. you get the sense they were trying their hardest not to copypaste vibes through its entire design trajectory. one of the best games i've ever played and doesn't feel like it's made by someone on the epstein list - idk but iykyk
This was a wonderful metroidvania with great movement! The game feel is strong on this one, and it felt the right length as well. I even went so far to 100 % it. Great work on the game!
страшно
in a world where the interconnected nature of metroidvanias feels like a lost art, tres-bashers surprises the player with its exploration freedom and simple-but-satisfying action the way a certain achievement pushes you towards obtaining upgrades and beating bosses in a specific order is a thing of beauty
A small but challenging vania about a monster basher that must rescue his friends. You must hit the monsters with light to make them vulnerable and you need to beat them to open gates than need a certain number of monster souls. There are plenty of secrets and a few hidden shops, it's very fun romp.
*chuckles* its a good game, sir classic-feeling game with tight controls (once you get used to them) with a wide variety of monsters, weapons, and upgrades to find. the areas are distinct and the music is also banging also, its genuinely a fun game to speedrun with interesting routes and is super easy to learn!
Control takes a bit to get used to but its a very fun game. I really liked the movement :)
