This game is Tip Top.
I've always been interested in the Trails series but the amount of games always felt intimidating. This remake was a great excuse to get into the series. And it's good. The gameplay is interesting with the matching of real time combat and turn based with a lot of option for tactical choices. The story has a few interesting plot twists and ends with a cool cliffhanger. Good thing we are getting the sequel just a year after this. The characters are likeable, even though a few of them are pretty archetypal. The game also runs great. Which is kinda expected. It is not exactly a graphical powerhouse but it doesn't need to be. Can't wait for 2nd Chapter.
This is truly what a remake should be. Brings the visuals into the modern era and adds a bit to the gameplay, but doesn't go too far and otherwise stays faithful to the original Sky FC game. Absolutely recommend you give this a try if you enjoy a JRPG with a great cast and world that feels lived in.
Dorothy is genuinely a goat, too bad she disappears Anyway good game
Great game, great story, little flaws, and 2 combat systems. I had fun building lots of my characters and dealing insane damage with all my status effects set up. The story was also promising to me, pretty soul-touching, and I'm excited to see the second game being remade to finally experience the "best" game in the trails series.
One of the best JRPGs I've ever played. Love everything about it, from great 3D artstyle and gameplay, to dialogues and story. I also loved the little QoL things that they have (like booting into latest save game instantly while skipping intros and menus). Excited for the second game. Plays and looks great on Steam Deck as well.
Pretty good game. Story: While it covers Estelle and Joshua traveling across the kingdom to become senior bracers. It steadily unravels Joshua's past as a weapon, and ultimately the purpose behind the Intelligence Division and the overtaking of the country. While it starts off slow, it does steadily get into it, which it is rich in lore. Side Quests: Quite a lot, doing them all unlocks some different dialogues and whatnot. System: A Hybrid of real time quick battle, which links into turn based. Where your characters can either use EP for magic, CP for techniques, etc. There are also team attacks, and the passives makes those easier to achieve. Mechanics are steadily introduced. Such as Estelle and Joshua's team up that gives high stun on enemies to make advantage much easier to get. As well as their team up replaces the Burst end. The game deals with a lot of status ailments, so be ready for that. Music: Doesn't really stick out until the Special Ops or whatever they are called, that track is seriously the best in the game. Overall: Pretty good game, but could have used a better structure as it did drag for a while. Though, nonetheless, worth playing.
First time ever leaving a review on steam and wow I must say Trails in the Sky 1st chapter remake was very pleasant to play through. I got this game during the steam sale and I can honestly say I'd probably pay full price for this, definitely looking forward to the 2nd chapter coming out in September. I'll however say two things some people might not like about the game, which is the character builds isn't very diverse and the game is pretty linear. Either way I enjoyed it and I recommend it especially on if you can get it on a sale.
