You are a robot with unrealistically advanced artificial intelligence on a previously unknown planet, people created you for one single purpose - to ensure the automatic production of the necessary resources and their dispatch. It would seem that what could go wrong?

Total Factory First Impressions Info dumps as a tutorial are not a very good way to do tutorials. This game is a bit of a combination of Factorio, Satisfactory, and DSP and does everything worse than those games. I have put 2,300+ hours into Factorio and nearly 1,000 hours in DSP and was looking for something similar that I could spend some time on and this... well, this isn't it. When hovering over objects, specifically inside containers, the tool-tips that pop up can get cut off by the top of the screen forcing you to be more precise with your mouse or lose tool-tip info. I suggest they cage the tool-tip popups within the screen so that they can not be cut off by the top of the screen. When crafting (solid fuel generator, for example) subordinate crafting parts (electric pole, for example) should automatically be crafted when crafting the generator. This is done in many other factory games (Factorio, Dyson Sphere Program for example). It's unnecessarily tedious to have to track down and craft subordinate parts manually. Consider adding a crafting queue. Escape should open a menu instead of just asking if you want to exit to desktop. I don't know why this isn't a thing in this game. It's basically industry standard. Is there even an in-game menu? Can I change the sound volume in-game without using my taskbar audio mixer? This is very odd and off-putting. The scroll wheel is backward. Scroll up zooms out and down scrolls in. I'm not sure why this is. It's the other way as default in any game I can think of. There isn't an in-game option to reverse it, either. Very odd. Targeting enemies is rather finicky. Small hit-boxes and enemies that change direction very quickly and often makes combat obnoxious. I played for 77 minutes including writing this review. I completed stage two. The achievement shows that only 31.5% of players completed stage two. That tells me almost seventy percent of the player base barely make it to one hour in this game. Only 50% of the player base even completed stage one. That actually says quite a lot. Cannot recommend at this time. Needs some more time in the oven.
TR;DR: Great Game. Saw the game and klicked "follow" before it's release. Didn't thought I'd buy it in the first place because I never played the "big brothers and sisters" like Factorio and such. The huge amount of updates and news about the updates surprised me. I bought the game and after ~6 hours I can say I really like it. According to the dev, at the current state, you can play it for about 30 hours till you've seen everything. Not speaking about simply starting a new game in a new map. After 6 hours I think I only scratched the surface. What's the game about? Look at the video and screenshots here in the store, they explain it. ^^ On the technical side I'd like to point out that Total Factory is running perfectly smooth. The system requirements are correct. Achievements are working, Steam Cloud is working, too. I recommend this game. Edit 1: While typing this review, another update came in. Total Factory now has it's own Discord. https://steamcommunity.com/games/2132570/announcements/detail/3556180117859026076 As I said: there is a lot going on with this game. Edit 2: Another player asked: "Haven't purchased yet but I am seriously considering it especially with the dedication the dev is showing with so many updates. Can anyone help by telling me if there is a lot of combat as that's what has put me off "Factorio" , don't mind a bit but like to develop as well not be continuously harassed." My answer: " About the combat: I don't know how it's in the endgame. When you start a game, you can build a base without continually being attacked. You start with three defensive guns and robots which help you defending your base. If your base or your character are being damaged, one of the robots will repair everything automatically. "
Total Factory is a family friendly game that has minor automation and crafting abilities. Your goal is to harvest and dispatch goods to help your home planet. However you will need to remember that there are other A.I. factions on the planet with the same goals and they tend to become more of a pain in your metal butt as you finish a goal and progress to a new goal/level. While the graphics are not award winning and the sound quality is low end, the over all feel of the game is easy to get into and play. However I will stick to my guns as always and state that the price point on Total Factory is not worth the game. If you find yourself interested in this game, I would recommend you look for videos of game-play and wait for a SALE. Having played a decent amount of time on this game I feel I can now give what I consider to be an honest review. The developer of this game is outstanding, the game was released as complete but he is constantly making improvements and alterations based on players comments and requests. In the last couple of days he has added the option to play without enemies, a mode which I personally much prefer but the other option is still there but is quite difficult especially as the enemies get more plentiful as you progress. All in all this is a really good factory game, it might not be as sophisticated as others like Satisfactory or Factorio but it will definitely keep you happily occupied for many an hour. Highly recommended.
Segmented map, small toolbar and inventory. And most important there doesn't seem to be anything new/improved over Factorio, at least on first look.
Nice mining RTS game with base defences, robots attacking and repairing.
First impression: The game is called Total Factory but after 3 hours I haven't gotten to the factory part. Instead I had to spend the time traversing long distances to find basic resources and fighting a constant barrage of enemies with a terrible combat system. Again, only 3 hours but already the character is no longer capable of getting thru enemy territory to get the resources to build anything without dying. Maybe some re-balancing would help. I played for another 10 hours. I found some game mechanics that work in the players favor and was actually able to start building a factory. Then just as the game was getting fun, something like 10 enemy spawn points appeared right next to the factory. Enemies easily overran the defenses and now I'm stuck in a death loop. Also came across some bugs including duplicate character and material icon that wouldn't go away. Would have reported them in feedback but the Feedback menu option doesn't work. I did like the progression/upgrade system and the price is reasonable. Other than that, I can't say there's much to recommend this game.
When I heard this referred to as "The new Factorio" I got excited! Upon playing it however, I was reminded of when Justin Bieber claimed to be the new "king of pop." I really wanted to like this game and I gave it a decent shot, but it still feels like an early alpha even though the developer says it is "Not in early access, but still in active development" Controls are frustratingly un-intuitive, even just placing belts is awkward especially if you want to turn a corner, and if its next to another belt then expect a hassle. Tutorial is random and repeats the same "help" messages over and over. I was disappointed to discover power production of all things required the most micromanagement just to stay running, growing bushes is tedious with the constant manual watering required, but trees arent so bad once you get to that level, it is still a non-renewable resource though. Theres too much grinding to manually mine a lot of the resources before it can be automated - I ended up using a rubber band to hold down the mouse button. Inventory management and crafting is cumbersome, to say the least. About half of my playtime was AFK waiting for products to be created to meet the goals. Found a possible bug which prevented me from upgrading anything, just another frustration. Dont get me started on combat... I have the patience of a saint but I'm afraid even this one's a NO from me.
Absolute Total Factory! Early in the morning I started to play this game. Built few miners and ore cleaners, constructed conveyor's logic and went to smoke on balcony. It was night already. OMG, I've not noticed how time has flown and night has come. Friendly environment, working equipment, logic thinking, amusing automation process only that I need to relax.
Thank you to the devs and publisher of Total Factory, Total Craft Games, for providing a fun game that made me build, defend and farm. My Steam review rating: Mostly Positive Total Factory sits on a very, very small pile of automation games that proclaims it is fully complete. It's not labeled early access, it has a full achievement list, it all works as intended without basically any performance issues…… And then you get to level 7(of 8) and it all changes as minor issues arise with a confusing rushed ending that all need addressed for a more satisfying play through to the end. Total Factory is a mix of genres that includes automation, tower defense, and farming. At the start of a new game you will begin by making a randomized world and choosing to include or exclude enemies. The world is not an open world but a connected 4x4 grid. As you explore you will come along a shadowed barrier that you simply enter and transfer into the next area. I believe this is done to keep enemies isolated and it is a seamless transition as you will be moving product via conveyor belts/power lines though these zones. The zones include different biomes such as desert, winter, forest, and plains which will have specific resources while a few can be found anywhere. As with all automation games the goal is to gather resources, create, automate, combine and export 3 or so items so that will unlock the next tier. Everything from the genre is here from conveyor belts, drills, power lines, assemblers, mergers, splitters, etc. all works as expected and when upgraded I was surprised to see them aesthetically change, nice touch. One of the most important aspects of an automation(or any) game is inventory and here it is very limited with exclusions of auto stacking and sorting. This is painful and a very, very major issue that will be highlighted in the late game. As I did fully complete the game with 100%, the ending feels really incomplete/rushed as you can craft a radar dish, enemy mortar and an enemy spawn point? It makes no sense. There are only 3 enemy types in the game who are not really too aggressive but the more time you spend in a zone, the more will spawn. The 3 enemy types include a mortar which launches rockets in an area(highlighted on the ground) , a slow tank like robot and a fast robot who will try to steal resources from anywhere who will be your main nemesis.. They will also put down a pad to spawn in more enemies. They are not aggressive but necessary and a nuisance. Necessary because killing them will provide the ONLY resources to upgrade ALL equipment.and a nuisance because your weapon is terrible. The only weapon you will equip is a gun that shoots at a short distance with slow velocity and with even maximum damage it feels really weak making the play through longer than needed. Luckily you will be given the ability to build 2 robot types,a healer and a fighter, alongside turrets and a mortar of your own. These are pretty cheap to build and will suffice in base protection for the most part. And as you will have smaller factories spread across the zones, make sure to have them guarded. Enemies again are not aggressive, but will spawn near bases and with no protection they will destroy it. I want to briefly touch on level 7-8 which IMO, needs desperate rebalance alongside the inventory I already discussed. This is where you will begin farming whether that is harvesting oranges and apples from trees or growing crops such as corn, tomatoes, or berries. The problem is these levels take forever because there is no way to automate water to crops. You will have to manually go back and forth to a water source and with all of your needs in multiple zones it becomes an absolute chore. As an example one crop(blueberry*) needs water (I counted) 13 times for it to fully grow and harvest. That harvest will account for an avg of 400+ berries. One of the last items you will need is 500 jars of blueberry jam. This required 30 blueberries for each jar, meaning you need a total of 15k blueberries. That is about 35 BB bushesx13 manual water ea x 45 sec(guesstimate) between ea water. This should explain why the last 2 levels took me over 15 hrs to complete. *This is the most extreme example, other crops are quite abundant to find and dont require a lot of work to harvest. Total Factory is a strong automation game for 75% of the time but the end game feels rushed with levels that are extremely grindy, unbalanced and inventory that is not optimized in a way to lessen the players time. There is still plenty of content to enjoy worth a sale price and for those who want to check out one of my favorite genres. It definitely is a welcoming game for new players and those who want to test their overall grind tolerance. Positives An automation game that isnt in early access. Fun game loop , progression for 75% of the game Nice visual presentation No bugs or issues with performance Choice to include/exclude enemies Enemies cannot destroy conveyor belts Fun achievement list to 100% Negatives. Lack of space, sort or auto stack for inventory Main weapon is super weak Last 2 levels need reworked No true ending Proper balance from weapon dmg, healing time, crops growing, etc. Bare bone settings Cant export out of storage containers
