About
ToSaVa is a fast-paced arcade puzzle designed specifically for digital artists, designers, and visual students. In this game, you don’t just play; you train your eyes and your brain to master the technical foundations of color theory in a high-pressure environment.
You are a chameleon in a constantly changing digital world. To move forward and stay safe, you must blend in perfectly with the ground. But there’s a catch: you don’t just pick a color from a palette—you must build it manually using professional color models. Achieve a "Perfect Match" to earn stars. Getting 5 stars in a row within the same color mode will allow you to progress and unlock more advanced game modes, from RGB to the challenging Lab space.
The entire User Interface (UI) has been meticulously designed to mimic industry-standard software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects. This makes the game a perfect bridge between theory and practice, allowing you to sharpen the skills you use every day in your professional workflow.
Three Core Mastery Modes:
HSV: Learn to think in terms of Hue, Saturation, and Value.
RGB: Master the additive color model used in every digital screen.
Lab: Challenge yourself with the most advanced, perceptually accurate color space used by high-end professionals (L*a*b).
Arcade Pressure: It’s not just about accuracy; it’s about speed. Can you calculate the correct values before the time runs out?
Educational Foundation: Developed by a 3D Animation and Interactive Environments professor as a practical tool to gamify the learning of complex visual concepts.
Minimalist & Aesthetic Design: A clean, professional look that keeps you focused on the core mechanic: the science of color.
Stop guessing hex codes and start understanding how color works. Whether you are a student trying to pass your color theory exam or a senior designer looking to sharpen your "color-picking" reflexes, this game transforms a complex technical skill into an addictive arcade experience.
Think you know color? Prove it.
Fun fact: ToSaVa stands for 'To, Saturació, Valor', which is Catalan for Hue, Saturation, Value. Also, my name is Tomàs Sala, and is my first game as a SoloDev, it could be like " Version Alpha". Both are ToSaVa...

Overall really like the idea and please don't abandon the game. Good things - Controls are good, but would like mouse controls to use the color wheel freely - Time limit gives a reason to find the color, but I do want the time expanded OR make the color change nearly instant. It doesn't feel like I get the full time. Bad things - Tutorial is really bad most of the time. The color almost never matches 100% and sometimes doesn't AT ALL. - Stopping me from changing my color is very annoying. Mainly cause of the time frame being so short. - Audio is WAY too loud/ doesn't save when you change it. - THE STARSSS. The stars make NO SENSE. I understand that they are within range of the color and award you points. BUT I made it through 5 areas without getting a single point on any of the stars. Sooo I'm very confused. Things to add - When you get a color right or wrong, Highlight the acceptable range on the bars and color wheel. This way i can see how close i was. - Award stars for correct/ acceptable range of each value. Then those stars could instantly dissapear and add to your score. (kinda like how angry birds does it). - Let your score be the way you unlock things. maybe even add currency for when you complete a section you can use to unlock the other wheels.
The concept of the game is great but the time to match each color is definitively too short and the tolerance is too low. There is also no feedback on your mistakes making it really difficult to learn about what was wrong on your attempts. I would really like the game to become more accessible because the idea is so cool.
Fun game, but there's one small thing that I think could make a huge difference with it. Each round you get graded on how close you were to the right color, but it doesn't show you what the 100% right answer was. This means you get a rating without knowing why you got that rating. I feel like that really stunts the learning opportunity this game has, and it might make it hard for those who haven't studied color theory to progress. If after each color it showed how the color is mixed, then people could see what they did wrong rather than having to guess. Maybe it could be a togglable setting if people like the challenge, but it's a change that I think would make all the difference if it's a possible one to make!
Coming from a design background, I found the initial progression quite accessible. Unlocking the three main color modes felt like a solid warm-up. However, the requirement to get 5 perfect color matches in a row without failing is where the real challenge begins. It’s demanding, but it creates a genuine drive to improve. More importantly, it ensures that you actually understand how color values work under pressure, rather than just relying on guesswork. It is important to note that this is a very simple and humble game, which is exactly what I was hoping for. It doesn't overcomplicate things and stays true to its core mechanic. Thanks to its strong educational focus, it’s a perfect fit for designers, illustrators, digital art students, or anyone wanting to sharpen their color intuition without relying entirely on their software's color picker. Highly recommended if you are looking for a practical, gamified way to learn.
It's a fun little idea, but the UI/UX just isn't there yet. I have a widescreen monitor, and the scaling just doesn't work and there doesn't appear to be any settings for me to adjust anything. Cute idea, not there yet.
The game is fun, and I love the concept. The game needs some polishing; it would be nice to be able to re-map the controls, or alternatively, let me use the mouse to click in the colour wheel / gamut that you have up. The time limit also feels short, especially when it gives you a very de-saturated colour from a super saturated one. If anything, maybe introducing differing difficulty levels might be prudent, so people who are still learning don't have such a steep curve to climb and can scale the difficulty appropriately without getting too frustrated and quitting. All in all, i think the game is fun, but prepared to be a little frustrated when some colour transitions are easier than others to dial in, and know that it stops you from changing the colour pretty early before the crow comes down. The game is simplistic, with set controls and a UI that you cannot change or modify that feels clunky, but it's definitely a time killer and entertaining enough to be worth the couple bucks I paid for while it was on sale.
