Saw some "not recommended" here and was kinda hesitate to buy this game but after all, it's not that bad. From the vibe the game gave you, there is nothing more than "relax" you would ask for. Maybe this game is not for a rush person or a hustle culture adult. I would recommend this game for you guys, the puzzle lovers.
4/10 Write the shortest program to collect all the food. A good introduction to basic programming concepts for young children. What is it: An easy programming game. The goal is to write a program that guides the animal through all the tiles to collect all the food. There are 4 instructions you can choose from, move ahead, turn left, turn right, and loop, which repeats the nested instructions a certain number of times. For the vast majority of the levels, there is no challenge in finding the right path, so just putting the obvious moves in sequence will do the job. But each level awards you up to 3 stars for accomplishing each of these tasks: finish the level, finish it on the first attempt, and finishing it with the shortest program. The "first attempt" challenge isn't really that strict, it just counts how many times you pushed the play button after starting the level, and restarting the level resets the counter, so even if you make a mistake, just close and reopen the level to get a new chance at that star. So there is just one real challenge, finding the shortest program, and even that isn't nearly challenging enough. Two new elements introduced in the later levels make it at least not dead obvious: teleporters and moving platforms. For the positive aspects: The game is cute and somewhat visually pleasing, easy enough for young children to tackle. There are 24 different animals you can choose from, if you're not a fan of a squirrel gathering nuts. For the negative aspects: This game is so boring! I couldn't do more than 15-20 levels at a time. And it's super slow. After writing the program in a few seconds, you have to watch as the animal slowly follows it, step by step, announcing every move, at a glacial speed. And when the level is done, there are more animations: confetti, stars get awarded one by one, and finally 45 coins are counted, and only when all that is done is the Next button enabled. Then a couple more seconds while the next level is loaded. Why does it need two seconds to load a tiny level? Of the 2 hours it took me to finish it, probably 30-40 minutes were used for actually solving the problems, and the rest just waiting for the animations to finish. Mouse/finger only, since this is a direct port of a mobile game. No achievements, no cloud save. The animals are too passive-aggressive, if you don't immediately start writing the solution they start cursing (or at least that's how I see the !@$#!#@$ speech they put up), and if you make a mistake they belittle you with "Not so genius". It could be a cultural thing, but I think a more positive attitude is needed. How hard is it: Very easy to easy. If you don't care about the extra stars for first try and shortest solution, it's quite trivial from start to finish. How long is it: 100 levels, 2-3 hours of playtime. Each level is usually smaller than 5x5, rarely going bigger. The levels must be played in sequence, no skipping ahead. Level design: Boring. Quality: Decent for a mobile game, but not good enough for a PC game. Straightforward mobile port, just an iOS game running on the computer. Mouse-only control, barely any settings, no achievements, no cloud save, no reset, Worth the price: Not if you're an adult looking for a challenging game; wait for a discount if you want a very simple "programming" game for young children. Most positive aspect for me: Cute look. Easy introduction to programming for children. Most negative aspect for me: Too boring. What would make it better: Add achievements and steam cloud save. Add a "faster" button that speeds up the animation, and a "stop" button that instantly stops the program. Add an indication for how short the program should be to get the "shortest" star. Add a setting for disabling full screen. Remove the long animation between levels. Make the animals less aggressive with their messages. Add support for writing the program with the keyboard. Add a "skip level" button. Add 50 more levels that are a bit bigger and harder. Clicking on the loop counter was often interpreted as a drag on the loop itself, make that more stable. Other things to consider: The Logo programming language, e.g. Turtle Academy. Difficulty : 0/5 (Extremely Easy) Global : 0.5/5 (Bad) There's not much to say, this is mobile game quality. Puzzle design is not good, levels change but solutions are often the same and you very rarely need to think. I guess Genius Moves is ok if you just want to kill time or relax a bit but that's all.
"Genius Moves!" is a logic puzzle game. You are trying to guide a cute animal to its target. To do that you plan the commands to move it and then execute them! It's a simple concept and perfect for educational purposes or as a brain exercise. No matter your age, those cute animals will brighten up your day! Can you collect them all?.. ^^ It's neither too easy or too difficult and it offers enough variety in worlds, characters and levels to keep you entertained. For this price, it's a very good choice, especially if you want to understand the basic concept of programming or just stimulate your brain a bit! Suitable for all audiences! The game difficulty is very low. It took me less than 3 hours to complete the 100 levels with 3 stars. Can be good for kids i think. PS : even having all stars in every single stage, i can't buy all the skins ! Missing 100 coins... But still thumb up, cause it's really cheap and promising ( please make harder levels, an expert mode or something like this and i'll enjoy it ! )
