Developed and published by Atelier Melon-Kissa, Toricky is a charming indie action-adventure that embraces the spirit of classic platformers while introducing its own distinctive gameplay mechanics. Rather than following familiar conventions, the game centers on the adventures of two cheerful birds, Toricky and Momo, who travel to the legendary Crystar Palace in search of mythical treasures. Their expedition quickly turns into a much greater mystery when they discover that the once-grand kingdom has been abandoned and overrun by dangerous invaders. What follows is an exploration-driven journey filled with hidden passages, environmental puzzles, oversized bosses, and an intriguing fantasy world that rewards players willing to venture off the beaten path. One of the game's defining features is its unconventional movement system. Instead of relying on a standard jump mechanic, Toricky propels himself through the environment using powerful bursts of flight that are governed by momentum and physics. At first this style of movement may feel unusual, but with practice it becomes one of the game's greatest strengths. Traversing large environments turns into an enjoyable challenge as players learn how to chain movements together, reach difficult locations, and uncover areas that initially seem inaccessible. The expansive maps encourage exploration instead of simply moving from one checkpoint to another, giving players the freedom to investigate every corner in search of collectibles, hidden routes, and optional objectives. Combat also distinguishes itself by avoiding traditional weapons. Toricky uses raw strength to grab and throw objects found throughout the environment, turning rocks, crates, and other debris into effective tools against enemies. This simple but creative mechanic keeps encounters engaging, as players are encouraged to use their surroundings rather than relying on repetitive attacks. The game features a wide assortment of enemies and memorable boss battles that require careful observation and quick adaptation. Many encounters blend movement, timing, and environmental awareness, making victories feel satisfying without abandoning the lighthearted tone that defines the adventure. The game's progression balances exploration with puzzle-solving, ensuring that players remain actively engaged beyond combat alone. Numerous environmental challenges require experimentation and clever navigation to unlock new areas or reveal hidden secrets. The interconnected design encourages revisiting earlier locations after learning new techniques, adding a rewarding sense of progression throughout the adventure. Completionists have additional reasons to keep playing through collectible hunting, hidden areas, and challenge medals that reward skilled play, while the optional Easy Mode makes the experience approachable for players who simply want to enjoy the story and world without excessive difficulty. Visually, Toricky captures the colorful charm of classic 16-bit adventures while presenting detailed sprite work and imaginative environments filled with personality. Every area introduces fresh scenery, from lush natural landscapes to mysterious ruins and dangerous fortresses, helping the adventure maintain a strong sense of variety. Character designs are expressive and memorable, and the Japanese voice acting adds warmth to story sequences without distracting from the gameplay. Complementing the presentation is an excellent soundtrack composed by Hiroki Kikuta and Dale North, whose memorable melodies blend orchestral themes with traditional Japanese influences to create an atmosphere that enhances both exploration and dramatic moments. Although Toricky offers plenty of originality, its unusual movement system can take time to master, and players expecting a straightforward platformer may initially struggle with its momentum-based controls. The open-ended level design occasionally leaves objectives feeling vague, requiring exploration and experimentation rather than constant guidance. However, these qualities are intentional aspects of the game's design philosophy, rewarding patience and curiosity with meaningful discoveries and a genuine sense of accomplishment. Toricky succeeds by offering a refreshing alternative to more conventional action-platformers. Its creative traversal mechanics, imaginative world, satisfying exploration, inventive combat, and memorable presentation combine into an adventure that stands out despite its indie origins. While the learning curve may discourage some newcomers, players who embrace its unique mechanics will find an experience filled with charm, creativity, and rewarding exploration. It is an underrated title that deserves recognition for taking familiar ideas and presenting them through an original and engaging design. Rating: 6/10

will be honest this game is made for hate it, a lot of repetive comments each time you try, really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.. i really tried cause well have good things but the pain of try again and again,.. without retry buttoms seeing all again, with horrible map traveler is horrible game. PD: yes is a game where only a good retry function without repetetive dialogue, and better water travel could be great... but put fish and teleports in places that are pain only for be a pain then have to say no...
Design is pretty good, but I didn't like the gameplay much.
https://store.steampowered.com/curator/32044813 ----------
