Great game, nostalgic, awesome diablo 1-2 vibe
A nice old game you'd play to remind of the good old days when devs doesn't infinitely slam dunk on your credit card with dumb cosmetics, microtransaction, slice and dice those virtual currencies to sell you more dumb stash space. Straight to the point arpg without all the bs.
Classic arpg for when you want to scratch the old-school itch.

Fun to play but standard settings are too easy so recommend upping the difficulty. Gets a bit samey after a while but if you're in the mood for a single player WoW experience then this is good for that.
6/10
A fun classic I first played 13 years ago on the Xbox and still just as fun today. If you enjoy games like Diablo 2 and Grim Dawn, then I'd say give this one a shot.
Love it ;) Thx
This game was fun. It was a bit clunky, but still very enjoyable.
Solid crawler, but I feel the layout for keyboard is just awkward. If I want to make split second decisions between items and abilities and go through 1-0 on the top area, and then need to use tab to switch what right click does??? Then those abilities items and attacks can sometimes be oriented to where my mouse points, but other times it just auto locks to whatever enemy is closest to my mouse. Something hat just gets annoying and overall with how the game is paced around you and the enemies moving quickly it feels like a flawed decision that would have belonged in a slower more tactical version of this game. Most of the games flaws extend from this awkward mishmash. It clearly wants to be something like diablo 2, but it borrows heavily from the FATE games as well. Both of which I enjoy to an extent, but the mix isn't really balanced here. Classes feel too exclusive like diablo 1, while being non-committal and freeform with how you build your character after. Think Wizard who only picked up bows, and ended up having to invest stats to range combat, just to have skills that are only based around casting magic. Unlikely situation, but something that can happen and it just feels weird to pretend like your game is freeform enough for that to be viable. It can *work* but it's not something that a player will use to get anywhere. Most of this leads to a janky stiff feeling to the game. This game is certainly "good" but it's not something that does anything better than what's already out there which makes it feel like you'd just waste your time playing this game. Even when I mention FATE and Diablo, they're both games that *do* have less than this game, but I'd still say those games work better than this game because they feel cohesive and thought out. Diablo will lock you into your character, it will take things slow and pace things in such a way to allow the player more agency when they try to pick their options for any given situation. FATE is smooth, has less going on, but speeds up the pace while making things more frantic to keep things from being boring. However all of its depth lies in the gear and what you find while exploring and how you can build yourself around what you find, or rig the game through the enchanters and merchants and quests to fine tune things to push yourself further. Here in torchlight you get a locked character, presented options to tune things in a different way that consistently will make you perform worse, a fast pace with frantic sections spaced out to make it feel slow and methodical while having the lack of intuitiveness to restrict you from being able to meaningfully utilize any option you might prefer over your default and secondary attack which are already dealing with anything in front of you before you get to the point of your options mattering, but it's still clunky enough that it feels like the agency of attacking is being taken away from you because of the lock on. I really would recommend practically any arpg over this game, even if I don't necessarily dislike the game. I just find that it's poorly aged which is enough for me to say that you should just move on.
