Torchlight II

First ever steam game I've ever gotten, still one of my favorites. I'll never forget the day I first played this and began my metamorphosis into a greasy fat gamer <3

Torchlight 2 is an absolute classic. TLDR: If you love this genre, and you haven't played this game, then absolutely get it, if this is on your wish list, you will love Torchlight 2. I played it years ago when it first came out. I've since had it in my steam account and just started playing it again. The buildcrafting in this game is phenomenal! Torchlight 2 has three skill trees each for its 4 class, you can mix and match skills from trees, and stats on every piece of equipment to support those builds to your heart's content! Wanna play a minion reliant character? You can do that! Wanna build a wild endgame build that masters challenge maps and new game plus? You can do that! Wanna spec entirely into passives and only swing your weapon? ....Well, I know your type...We all know that's the worst build in EVERY game since forever...BUT...you can do that...I guess... To nitpick Torchlight 2, the pacing is off a little bit. You don't achieve a full build until the game is almost over, and that is bad power fantasy structuring. Still many will say the End Game challenge maps and New Game plus are where the real game begins, and I can roughly agree with that sentiment. Additionally, using your primary weapon goes away as the game progress and you become skill reliant. However, ALL GAME DEVS IN EVERY GAME CANNOT AND HAVE NOT SOLVED THIS ISSUS lol. Elden Ring anyone? Yes, even in Elden Ring, your weapon becomes a side piece to your skills. This is all completely forgivable as 1.Tortchlight 2 is a classic ARPG, so some archaic design choices should be expected. 2.Mods are plentiful. And 3.Runic Games no longer exists. Overall, the game is great, the story is lighthearted, and this Torchlight 2 is a fun classic that really holds up. If Torchlight 2 is on your wish list, let this be your confirmation to dive in! You'll be glad you did as I am glad that I picked Torchlight 2 up again after so many years.

It's like a cartoon version of Diablo 2. Wish I had given it a try sooner. Really enjoying it.
