Kiss her, for she is beautiful!
I've been a fan of Splinter Cell for 20 years. I started doing a replay of all the games, and I finally reached the magnum opus that is Chaos Theory. Hell... Yes!! I'm on Mission 6, so I'm about halfway done in my playthough, but this isn't my first rodeo. I've played this game multiple times before, and I can tell you it still holds up as one of the greats! Everything great about the first two games, they improved in Chaos Theory. EVERYTHING! They added a co-op mode that you can still play using a program called "Radmin VPN" to trick the game into thinking you have a LAN connection. I played a bit with a friend of mine, and it's fun as hell. Just made sure you both have the same settings. If one if you has ThirteenAG's widescreen fix, the other needs it too (Also, get ThirteenAG's widescreen fix) You owe it to yourself to play this game. It's $10. What are you waiting for?
I haven't gamed in nearly a year, so I was thrilled to test out a lot of my games. I was having a lot of fun playing around with DisplayFusion, Borderless Gaming, and MS PowerToys. I game on an ultrawide, and having those three programs running is a must for us ultrawide gamers. Unfortunately, “Splinter Cell Chaos Theory” is weirdly developed, as it cooks your audio, drops your native resolution to 240p, and then launches the game into "fullscreen". Sadly for me, there's no option in the settings that lets you make the game windowed, and even though the game's “ini” files say you can, the game itself says otherwise when you launch it. There was a nice mod that skips the unskippable startup intros, but none that makes the game windowed. Oh, well. I'll just continue playing on my Steam Deck when my brother returns it, or wait for the Steam Machine :/

After finishing Chaos Theory, I finally understand why so many people call it the peak of the series. Everything just comes together perfectly. The level design encourages patience and experimentation, giving you multiple ways to approach every objective. Sneaking through the shadows feels incredibly satisfying, and unlike many modern stealth games, getting detected actually has consequences instead of turning into another action sequence. The atmosphere is outstanding. The soundtrack, lighting, and overall tension make every mission memorable. The bank, the cargo ship, the penthouse, the lighthouse—each mission has its own identity and never feels repetitive. Sam Fisher is at his best here. His dialogue strikes the perfect balance between professionalism and dry humor, and Michael Ironside’s performance elevates every scene. Controls show their age in a few places, but once you get used to them, the gameplay still holds up surprisingly well. Even after all these years, Chaos Theory remains one of the best examples of the genre. If you’re a fan of stealth games, this is an absolute must-play.
