It is a simple and yet fun game. Perfect for those who like paranormal games but are bad at the bigger ghosts hunting games
I really wish this game was good but this is quite possibly the worst battle system I have ever seen in any RPG in my entire life. Like... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dude. I'm very into every part of this game but the combat is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrible. I wish that there was a mode that let you just play this as a visual novel. The battle system is like... imagine grid based DnD with simultaneous turns, and there's a turn limit. If you hit the turn limit you instantly lose. It's really just awful.
★★★☆☆ Picked this up cheap because it's directed by the Kowloon High-School Chronicle guy. I could definitely see the creative lineage and that charm still comes through, but only sometimes. Screams "PS Vita game" in a way substantially less charming than, say, Kunitsu-Gami. I didn't have a bad time but this one ain't gonna stick with me. Good UI touch: Trap setup hands Bad UI touch: That dialogue input system is incomprehensible, and I played Kowloon High-School Chronicle
A little overwhelming at first, but a great game. The loc is... adequate. Some small issues with terminology and the writing can be a bit ho-hum sometimes. Very anime, down to the OP playing for every new chapter.
On a technical level, the game is a bit of a mess. Options are bare bones and you have to cap your desktop resolution to 1920x1080 just to run it. The tutorials do a poor job of explaining the games' mechanics and systems, and I experienced just a couple of crashes in my 50 hour run. The worst of it though is the Save function. I assume because the game is a PlayStation Vita port, where you could put the device in "sleep mode" to resume play later, but on PC you often have to go through very long sections without having an opportunity to save your game. Sometimes this can mean over 30 minutes of dialogue, or multiple difficult battles in a row without being able to reliably break. With the negatives out of the way, there is an enjoyable, albeit strange Tactical RPG/Visual Novel to be found here. You play as a group of misfit ghost hunters, taking part time jobs to combat spirits and ghouls in an episodic format. Before most missions, you'll have a chance to plot and plan around the combat arena, placing salt across doorways to prevent entry, offerings to distract the spirits, or traps to damage your enemies. The game admittedly feels like a low-budget title, but you can tell the designers had a lot of fun working on the project, with its unique presentation style and visuals. I'll admit the first time I played the game, I gave up pretty quickly, as this is a poor PC port, but if you can ignore that then you may find an enjoyable experience here, so I offer a mild recommendation.
The game is essentially divided into visual novel "investigation" sections (which are beautifully and reasonably well-written, but only slightly interactive), freeform "planning" sections where you lay down traps and salt and bait to trap ghosts, and finally strategy-RPG sections where you actually have to fight the ghosts. In practice battles are won or lost in the planning section; if you lay down traps properly, it's easy enough to ambush a ghost, but if you screw up you can easily lose track of them and run out of time. Gameplay is divided up into about 13 episodes (plus a few mini-episodes between them added for this special edition); you can also go on freeform randomly-generated missions as much as you want if you feel like grinding, although they get repetitive fairly fast. Overall the game is stylish, well-made, and well-worth playing for anyone who wants to play an anime-style "go to school, then fight ghosts afterschool" sort of thing.
The game is absolutely beautiful. The art style, music, animationsv everything is awesome. I really love it. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this game at the moment because I can’t properly play it. I’m stuck in a “fighting role” section, and the screen does not display the entire map. Because of this, it’s impossible to progress. If this screen/map issue gets fixed, the game would definitely be amazing.
Really tried, the weird ghost combat/prediction thing is too random and just boring to play.
