Yeah this is decent. I completed the tutorial galaxy and then the next one and unlocked a new faction. It's surprisingly fast-paced and I made liberal use of the space bar to pause and review strategy then unpause, which feels a bit like cheating. It's fun and has a chill vibe despite the goal of conquering planets. There's quite a lot of variation in the galaxies I played and powerups etc. I'm not sure if the galaxies are proc gen like in a Rogue-lite or human-designed. Either way it's fine. Recommended.
Love the planet's expressions
Lovely little throwback to the flash-game days ^^ So much personality and life everywhere in this game. Game-play feels responsive and fast, and I love the different factions, each zany comedies of themselves. That being said, this is a somewhat cautious recommendation at the moment. As is, the game lacks content in so many aspects, making it rather repetitive even within the first hour of play. It's great fun, but the repetitive nature drags it then down sharply. Some examples: 1. There is only a handful of star system descriptions and faction text quips after winning. This is a comedic game, don't skimp out on the comedy! Gimme several more zany location descriptions and toxic faction quotes after winning a mission. As it is now, I stopped reading nearly all texts after half an hour because they repeat so often. 2. Low number of levels. I like the existing level layouts, but not enough to play the same level three times back to back. Especially not if the bots can be bullied every time in the same ways. 3. Core Game-play balance. I discovered a very easy to execute strategy / build early on. With it every match was over without as much as a struggle. Later levels got a bit more interesting, but having to play through the first two to three chapters to get there is a bit... ehhh. 4. Builds / Upgrades. Very bare-bones, runs end before any cool synergies or real builds could form. Still, I don't wanna sound like I didn't enjoy my time with "To the Stars". If that was the case I would not write this xD I enjoyed my time at first, and would love if I could have done so far longer. What is already here has so much charm and character. Hope the devs can afford the time and money to flesh it out a bit more^^ I'd say it's absolutely worth giving a spin if you like this type of game, worst case you can always refund^^
This game is bursting with fun personality. Visually excellent, funny, polished and well executed all around. Encounters are pretty short, which is great for being a busy parent, but the roguelike run structure gives it a nice pacing for longer sessions too.
There's nothing else like this, it's very fast-paced (with many levels lasting less than a minute) but there's still strategic depth here, especially as you get onto some of the later levels. The art and music is incredible!
oh snap, this is a nice quick-play strategy game
Nice game but is quite repetitive. 1h everyday is ideal to play
TL;DR - This game has so much going for it but it quickly falls flat. I will check back as it updates though. Pros - Fun visuals Great core concept The early game is fun Cons - Each level progresses so fast that there is no strategic depth. If you reach planet A, before the other guy(s), you win. Much of the time this occurs in the first few seconds of the game ..... not at all exaggerating. The faction powers are WAAAAAYYY to powerful. While some games can pull this off, here it is unbelievably frustrating to run into something there is no way to play around. You just have to sit there and take it. Once some powers are activated you just sit there and wait for it to wear off before continuing play. And the faction that can nuke any planet into oblivion is the worst offender. The campaign maps are just too repetitive and thus tedious. Not enough upgrade options, not enough objective variations, planet variations, etc.
This is a fun little game later Stages and Races offer quite a bit of a challenge!
wtf this game is so good! It's like a creative combination of puzzle/rts/mobile phone-ish (the good ones) type of game.
