It's a fun little breakout / roguelite mashup - it's a somewhat relaxing game to kick back and play (the background baroque music helps too) - really cheap as well. Controls feel smooth, even on a a gamepad - I normally prefer breakout games by mouse because I want no lag in the movement but in the game, the speed/control from the gamepad is more than enough to handle the pace. There is a campaign as well as random runs, and some permanent stats that you can upgrade your 3 playable characters (bats?) as well. For me, I found there was a lot going on in terms of spells, buffs, timers and I only realised that the opponent had his own ticking away as well, and while these are some great details to have, I didn't feel the need to focus on them - there was little I could do to stop the opponent from performing anything from its side, so events just occurred without interference, and I found I could get by with mainly concentrating on ball-hitting-top tactic and the rest almost played itself - however it may also the case that I was not utilising the game's mechanics to their full potential. Overall it's a fun game, cheap price, easy to get into and casually jump off again as well. :D
It's okay on special if you want to kill some time between things at work... I'm stuck on a level at the moment where the enemy bar regenerates, the level is pretty much empty, and there's absolutely no excitement. It's been 5 minutes - an eternity in videogame time. The game has lovely ideas but unfortunately feels more like a test than an actual game. I would play a sequel if there was more mechanics.
Awesome game for a boring evening or two. The pixel graphics are really cute and the animations are nicely detailed. Might have some spoilers, not really sure. :D Gameplay-wise there are some minor frustration with playing with the mouse, since the platform does not follow just the tiniest movement. You'll get used to it quite fast, though. Another gripe for me is the constant power-up popup window, which stops your paddle movement mid-game every time you fill the bar on the right... and you fill it a lot, so you get these game pausing screens constantly. I beat the last boss with the witch. Just a heads up, if you struggle with it like I did. Almost gave up, before trying the other characters besides the knight. It is possible. Just don't worry about restarting and trying again. The knight might be the easiest simply, because his basic attack can break most blocks (goes through them). If the last boss gets too many builders up, you're better off restarting the fight, since it becomes rather pointless to try to get a path cleared and have it immediately blocked by the hardest boxes around. Also, even if you manage to get that, there's a high chance your ball just blows up and you need to launch a new one. It's a mechanic, apparently. Still love the game! Just wish it had more content and you could toggle some of the things off (pop ups are the worst)..
This game is awesome! I hope the devs expand on this game and bring back this beloved game format to the current times. You can tell that a lot of love was put in the art and animation, and it brought me joy to revisit a breakout genre. I feel that there is a huge potential for this kind of game and I wish the devs the best of luck with their future projects. got all the achievements :3
Didn't expect to finish this game, but I did, and I mostly enjoyed myself! It can be enjoyable, but it can also be frustrating. On one hand I appreciate the relatively quick meta progress, the characters, the arkanoid gameplay and challenging gameplay. On the other hand, the way your orb ricochets off of corners or just random unfathomable hitbox shapes, the way you manage to squeeze it through a gap into a big open space, and it somehow instantaneously bounces back at you at a right angle and slam dunks, or how you can just barely change your orb's trajectory with your paddle, or generally the fact that you can't ever reasonably predict the orb's trajectory beyond the first contact surface... that honestly really sucks. BUT somehow it's still fun to play, and you can discover and master techniques to outsmart the RNG too. So if you like the looks of this, go get it. It's pretty much exactly what you see in the trailer.
3 hours flew by before i knew it. Game is a very fun breakout/brick break gem. Only downside atm is that it does not really have a pause function exactly (getting a lvl up in the game does pause it though, so you can just use that for bathroom breaks). If it had an endless mode of some kind it would be a 10/10 (i have yet to unlock everything so it might... but it's not lookin like it atm). Definitely worth the price. Very easily you will get 1h of game play per 1 dollar spent on it. Does not have rebindable keys though, but you can rebind your controller key easily enough using steam's controller re configurator. The tutorial take's you through the control's which starts as soon as you start the first lvl. I give this game a 7/10. Very fun, will totally be doing every mode this game has to offer.
Short, casual bricker breaker game. The game is repetitive and I wish you had more control over the gameplay but it isn't bad.
Even addictive this variation of Arkanoid, but how can the most important mechanic in this type of title not be perfected? I'm talking, of course, about the physics of bouncing the ball. It's random, you can't send it intentionally. Further proof that it lacks a neutral rating on Steam.
