Tidal Tribe is a relaxing god game that gives you the power to shape the terrain. Raise and lower the land to protect your villages from waves and floods, all while using that very same water to build lakes and rivers, turning the desert land into a lively forest of trees and bushes.

river below ground level means fig tree apocalypse woohoo
(Keep in mind I have mainly played the free play sandbox modes.) Its hard to put a generic label on a game like this. Its a god game for sure, but its also doesn't give you complete control. It doesn't even allow you to completely control the little characters you rule over, a trademark of any other god game. It only gives you the power to shape sand. That's it. That is basically the only thing you will ever have total control over. The rest of the game comes from the simple, yet shockingly complex way your Terra-forming interacts with the environment and locals. You are really only limited by your creativity and dedication, and it is deceitfully challenging to your brain. Every action you take, makes you think about what will happen because of it. Good Terra-forming = Good Irrigation = Good Plants = Prosperous People = Many other things. After your people get prosperous, there is many potential outcomes. They can either fight each-other, create civilization, become anarchists, craft bombs, but what usually happens, is a combination of all of these. Its like chess, a beginner understands the moves they make, a more advanced player understands the potential outcomes of their moves. Despite the depth and amazing mechanics of this game, it sadly doesn't have a big player-base, and an apt name for it is just to call it a dead game. The games future rests entirely on the chance that this game might have a revival big enough to encourage the developer to work on it again. Which is unfortunate because it seriously has limitless potential. One small mechanic can just add an incredible amount of depth and replayability. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this game, especially if you enjoy other god games. Personally I love this game because it doesn't limit your creativity, but it also gives you direction. An example of the opposite of this is Minecraft creative mode. If I don't go into a creative world with a purpose, I always end up bombing the nearest village after a while because I get overwhelmed with the options and my simple ape brain defaults to murdering the local populace (which you can do in Tidal Tribe, you just need to be creative) Even if you don't particularly enjoy games of the genre, you should give this game a chance, you might just like it.
To be honest, this is probably one of the best god games available. The game is well worth the money, not only just being a soothing, enjoyable game with a great soundtrack, but also a LOT of content for a game made by a single person. The best parts of this game are being able to mold entire landscapes into hills, plateaus, rivers, lakes, and all sorts of other formations, along with the satisfaction of being able to watch just a simple little desert boom into an entire ecosystem littered with trees, plants, animals and all sorts of other stuff. Watching the people go about their lives is also really entertaining to watch, with the triangle people doing things like picking fruits, playing, rioting, and even waging war! They're fully autonomous and require no management, so they make their own decisions compared to something like a city builder, so it's as simple as starting up a game and watching them. Helping their society (or harming it) is also one of the player's options. The player could build lakes which can help plants grow, which the NPCs will use the plant's fruit to create various products that satisfy certain needs, or they can completely destroy those ecosystems, making plants scare and raising their respective product's price , giving the player an input on the NPC's society. Overall, I recommend this game to anybody looking to buy it. It has a good charm to it and as I said, it's well worth the money. NOTE: Updates have slowed since the game hasn't sold much, which means the developer can't work on it as much as he used to. Hopefully the game gets back up on it's feet again, I'd love to see development continue!
This game is amazing. Quite worth the money. Firstly, the game itself is quite therapeutic. One can make lagoons, mountains, paths, and help out the little triangle people with their economy and needs; it is oddly satisfying to see how their civilization passes from living in shanties to full-blown mansions. There are also quests in the main levels that require you to find keys and complete a treasure map, while photographing several things through the levels. Not only is the simulation relaxing and the overall atmosphere calming, but also the story mode has many funny, pog, and bruh moments. For example: There is a password origami duck, and if you insult it, it will cleverly insult right back. There is also a casino that penalizes you for savescumming, restricting access to the casino itself if you cheat. Some side missions are a cakewalk while others have a Cuphead/Dark souls level of difficulty. Finally, the amount of minigames is unreal, and can be a good source of XP, as well as an alternative to the general simulation levels. Overall I think it's pretty good for an indie game. Fully recommended.
Epic
Nice game but very slow
I wish this game had a demo. I've really been in a mood for something like From Dust. i was really hoping this could be it. It's a strange mix of overly complicated while being overly simple. complicated as you have to manage plant growth and such, simple in that, unlike From Dust, you only control the land. I don't think the 1st person view and control scheme were the best choice, and the graphics and physics are...well they could be better.
I can't seem to play the game it just stays on a black screen I'd love to figure out how to play.
oh, how the tide tables have turned
This game is one of my favorite god games, mainly because the npcs don't have to rely on you to grow. And hands down my favorite part is the wars, they are very fun to watch. Please update or sequel I beg.
