Just finished my first run, really cool game! The game has a creative spin on top of the turn-based dungeon crawling genre, and by all means, it's really interesting Everything in this game is randomized: party members, classes, stats, even skills are randomized despite picking the same classes. But you have the tools to customize your characters to some extent so it's still based on your decision making The game environment's pretty tough and seems unfair at first, but after you learn how the combat works, the game gets so much easier. There are many ways you can tackle the seemingly impossible enemy using the game's unique turn-based system. I can just spell it out here but I think it's better to try stuff out yourself first
well I just completed my first run of this fun, quick dungeon crawler. the way skills are learned, and taught is great; could use a little more explaining for new players, but for experienced players it is a quick learn. there is character cross training as well as dual classing. it is a good system. gear and items have quirks and stats, that do not make them a must have, but do feel significant in improvements. overall the game is easy to pickup and play for a bit here and there. about 2 to 4 hours a run. In my playthrough I explored all I could, moved real quick, zero grinding. I lost a full party by floor 2 boss. due to recklessness, while the 2nd party took care of the rest of the game. I was worried about non active party memebers not getting exp, but THEY DO!. all of the battles required some thought, The focus system is great! half way through floor 3 I had some end game attacks and with focus it lets you use them all the time with reduced cost, at least once a battle. got some really hard battles once I hit the final floor, . there was some cool special events, The descriptions were well done I "could" always expect what would happen or at least know if it would have a negative. overall everything was great... well except the battle with the UI the biggest problem it is clunky with controls. there is a odd mouse thing that makes it feel like you are dragging it through mud. and the buttons and ways for menu navigation is a pain. (please just let me select a spell to cast in the menu with one click) I want to heal. please just let me heal out of battle without over 12 clicks. items and skills need more description info... ALOT more. just let me know the odds please. I have played a lot of these games I don't want to guess or look up guides anymore.
Amazing aesthetics, very good roguelike dungeon crawler. If you want some dungeoneering then I highly recommend. I would say each run lasts for about 3-5h, based on the speed you're playing. There's lots of possibilities and very unique leveling system. I've seen people complain that it's RNG - I disagree. It's all about learning how to adapt to the given situation, with plenty of room to experiment and at least in my eyes RNG plays a little role in whatever I succeed or not. It's mostly about knowledge, planning and what what you can do, and what you cannot. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes dungeon crawlers focused on combat - the exploration is decent, but I would say 70% of the game is combat, 5% finding secrets, 25% admiring the beauty of sprites. Buy it - it's incredibly cheap and enjoy it. I'm really glad that I gave it a try, because initially after reading the negative reviews I thought the game has problems, but as soon as I've played it myself I found out it's mostly skill/knowledge issue problem.
I enjoyed this dungeon crawler a lot especially for quick gaming sessions. The art style is detailed and grotesquely beautiful and the combat and gameplay is smooth and methodical. Definitely worth a play!
First impressions: This is a beautiful game with loads of personality. I love how the art reminds me of old school RPG books without feeling too derivative. The music is perfect for playing alone in a dark room at night. And even though the design philosophy feels like a throwback, the responsive and intuitive controls felt conveniently modern. I look forward to dying a lot in this game. You should try it. (Also the Steam store thumbnail looks completely different from the game. They might want to fix that.)
An elegant little dungeon crawler. It's simple, but it all works and has just enough weirdness in gameplay and sprite design to make you deliciously uncomfortable.
