Just finished Thukothea Defender (on normal - still working through hard!). It's a fun little tower defence game with a heavy focus on effective use of special abilities and a resettable skill tree that lets you tackle levels with different strategies. The graphics might not look like much but it's a lot of fun to play. Only 6 levels and 2 difficulties so it's short but it's sweet. Resettable skill tree let's you experiment with playstyles. Fun. I don't leave Bad Reviews Lightly, and unfortunately, this is one of those few times where I need to. Please note, that if the Problems are resolved, this Review will either Change or be Deleted. Game Engine is also Unstable, and the Game Crashes Frequently on a High-End PC. Rating*: 7+ Controls: Mouse Only Difficulty: BRUTAL Notes: If you're prone to Game Raging, then DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME! Crash Warning**: This Game Crashes Frequently, even on a High-End Rig Controls: Left-Click = Select Right-Click = Unselect Middle-Click = Map Panning Difficulty: OK, so I failed my first Attempt of Level 2. When you see the Leaderboards pop up, you'll note that getting to Wave 2 or 3 of a Level will Place you in the Single-Digit Ranks. This thing is Hard as Nails, as you have to Keep up with being Rushed at every single turn imaginable. The Game goes at one pace, and for someone like me with Arthritis... That basically destroys the experience. This may not be up there with Dark Souls, but this is still very hard. Requiring Pixel Perfect Placement of Turrets, and for a Red Crystal to Spawn on the Map from the Start of the Level. That little Red Crystal makes all the difference between if you pass or fail. Difficulty (Resources): This needs its own heading, as gathering Resources is the MOST important part of the Game. The issue is, the Resource points are extremely exposed. Top this with the fact that you do not have enough time in order to place a new Mining Drone on the Resource point before the Next Wave. It costs 50 Resources to build a Mining Drone. Then you need to use a Collector in order to then collect the Resources. The Collector Drones also cost Resources. Mix this with how fast each Wave is thrown at you (~30 Seconds Before Wave start)... You're basically done for. * Rating: 7+ for Violence... Obviously, you place Drone Ports down to then shoot at and kill things. ** Crash Warning: I've managed to Crash this game several Times now, and I'm using a High-End Custom Built Rig. 4.0GHz CPU and 32GB (3200MHz) RAM, and Dedicated Graphics Card.

Interesting Tower Defense title that has its own personality with the use of drones and miners/collectors. Took me a while to get around the basic ins and outs of the game (which is fine) and, the deeper I get, the more there is to enthuse about. Tactics have to be refined all the time and you really have to think your way through. A top little Tower Defense title.
Cool tower defense with specific mechanics (not the tower that directly attack / can give a strategy to the tower / ...). It's a bit too hard but when you understand how it works, it becomes better! Graphics are ok but could be better.
Start playing and watch how you die - that's it, that is the game. I love Tower Defense Games and I just wanted to have something better than the free flashgames that are around. But no luck with this one. For me the point is not the quality of the computer grafic but the strategy behind it. This is literally a game without strategy. I will stay with free flash games or the steam game I'm playing for ten years now. This game isn't worth my money, this game isn't even worth time.
I have played for a little over an hour, and as it stands I cannot recommend this offering. It seems interesting, but it also seems unfinished in some respects. The core game is very much tower defense, but with a lot of micromanaging required. In addition every unit and tower is not only vulnerable to attack, but will probably die. You gain no resources automatically but must guide units to collect them, units you dare not send out during an attack. In addition you can send out harvesters to resource areas to mine some glowing green ore, bu they are often right on the road, making collecting enough resources to make the initial purchase worthwhile almost impossible, if the resource is any distance from the base. Towers fall startlingly quick. The drones they put out are rather small and hard to keep track of, but they seem to die very easily as well. Each tower has a handful of upgrades, based on the green ore and the much more rare red ore. You can increase the number of drones, replace destroyed drones, and a few other things based on the tower type. There are a few tactical option, attacks from space, and areas of increased efficiency. but they seldom seem to accomplish must, and you only get them in the mobs drop them, so the odds of having one is not always very high. There is a very rudimentary target selection system, but it seems to be universal rather that tower specific. You can say attack most or least current hit points, more or least maximum hit points, or first. Not very useful, when there are things you do want or even need to be able to do, but can't. For example it would be nice to tell healing towers where to focus their drones, but this is not an option. Also the game actually warns you that the enemy gains healing tanks which you should focus on, but there seems to be no way to do so. There is also the issue of figuring the range. A range circle shows up while placing, but can be called up after placed. When trying to be within range of a healing tower, such information would be useful. It would also be nice if the enemy didn't always seems to have a longer range than I do. The maps are actually nice looking, but the paths are short, and the enemy comes from multiple directions. And I have only gotten to the second level. There is no ability create or impact pathing of any kind, something I know is very important to some players. There is also a very rudimentary strategic upgrade system. It adds now tower types, and buffs them a bit, but there are very few options. Finally there is no fluff, something that requires almost no effort and can make a good game great, and a borderline game interesting enough to want to play. There is a vaguely sci fi like flavor, but no story to engage my curiosity. All in all it is just too difficult, with too few options to try and do better. It feels like something that might have been a good game, with six to eight more months effort, but currently isn't worth even the sale price I paid for it. ADDENDUM: Not going to try it any further, simply too ridiculously difficult.
