Game visuals are good, but is very unbalanced. There are two factions in this game. The Andarer and the Redaxh. The Andarer are the typical shield and arty faction (in theory). The Redaxh are alians with a big end game walker thing and tanks that shoot energy balls. When playing I noticed that the Andarer can build way more early game units than the Redaxh can and can easily overrun other factions with light tanks. Which seems a little odd since they are the ones with the tech to get arty. The Redaxh is dependant on one of the three resources so much that their early game is extremely limited until they get their tech center up and get some eco upgrades. The problem comes in with how the projectiles work for the units. The Redaxh units all shoot slow projectiles including their defense towers. So the Andarer can just build 8 light tanks and go kill everything as long as the player micros good enough. It does not really matter what the enemy has, your tanks can move so fast that nothing can hit them. The starting workers are all ground units so you just micro past any defenses that the enemy has and just kill the eco and then you have won the game at that point. I found that when playing the Andarer that I had to just put limits on the light tanks that I can build and just not build them if i wanted the game to go past 7-10 minuets of stomping the opponent. Even in the end game you can just spam them because the cost is so cheap that you just over run the enemy base with this. The eco is not good for early game Redaxh and the light tank for Andarer is ridiculous, so I thought lets build some heavy tanks and see if it does the same thing. (Also tried this with Redaxh units and it work to some degree against the Andarer, but to a lesser degree because the projectile speed is higher for the Andarer units, so it is not as effective but still works.) Yep! Just wiggle your units around a bit and all the projectiles miss you from enemy units and defense turrets. There needs to be something that allows the enemy to hit units that are quick. AOE seems to be an answer, but you really don't get any until later in the game for both factions. The air units can kind of be a counter, but again the projectile speed is so slow that you can not really touch anything if the opponent is paying attention at all and is moving their units. Also air is expensive to get and you will get run over fast if that is what you are using as defense early game. Gunships will not allow you to stop the enemy from killing off all of your eco. You can just run past them and ignore the air and then just go kill all of the opponents workers, and then they have no money to build anything else so an instant win there. This seems like the unit models and scale would work for a tower defense game, but in a game where you can micro units it does not work. The projectile speed needs to be adjusted for defenses as well as for the Redaxh units. I am mediocre at best at RTS games and I got board really quick with how the fights played out. It seems like a good game to keep on your watch list, but until there is some more polish with the unit balance and eco balance, and perhaps some more units added to the game (something to put a slow area effect on the enemy to make the projectiles have a chance to hit?) then I recommend other games such as Red Alert, Forged Alliance Forever, or Age or Empires, or Star Craft.
Summary: A lot of potential and similarities with "Command and Conquer" and "Supreme Commander", the graphics are ok, no multiplayer for the moment, it lacks optimization and has some bugs, but if they add more stuff it will be a lot of fun. If you can afford it, buy it, help this game to mature as a good RTS! At the time of this review the game was just released as early access 2 days ago, I played the demo first and as I saw potential I bought it. The game clearly lacks a lot of content, but it already has some basic things, and the essence of the game I liked a lot, reminding me of Command and Conquer (as many say), but more than anything it reminded me of my hours and hours of Supreme Commander, a game I love and highly recommend. For being made by such a small development team, the game is great and I hope they can keep improving it and adding content, since at the moment you can only play with 2 factions and in single player skirmishes against the AI, and a mode to resist waves. No multiplayer for the moment. I found 2 or 3 bugs but it is understandable for the magnitude of the project. The game lacks optimization, playing in a 2vs2 game, when about 20 minutes have passed and there are many units in the game, the game begins to lose fps abruptly, and in some moments the units take about 5 seconds to respond to movement orders. The above described happened to me with the graphics in "Very Low" and 1920x1080 resolution, and the RAM consumption of the game was around 11 GB. If I raised the graphic quality I saw that it even required 17 GB of RAM. Here are my specs for reference: OS: Windows 10 x64 Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600x Memory: 32 GB of RAM Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1050ti (4GB of VRAM) I send my best wishes to the development team so they can continue with the project, I can't wait to be able to play the full game!
Played it for 4 hours and what's inside the game is nice and fun. Classic RTS, similar in its idea to C&C or Earth 2150. I can see the potential. At the moment, there is no story mode or multiplayer. The team is dedicated to provide more content. (I was sponsored, but my opinion is my own).
Played in in Multiplayer with a friend. Was a lot of fun. It really made me remember how much I love RTS.
Very unpolished but decent. Very basic Classic RTS, doesnt have much flavor but im gonna vote it up because it is a solid return to the basics for old farts like me. Im sure itll be good when finished.
I can't recommend this game, in all honesty. It's bogged down with poor pathing, terrible AI, and 20 year old graphics. The voices are terrible and annoying after only 5 minutes. The tech tree isn't at all interesting, despite being exceptionally limited. All units die like lvl 1 scouts in any other game would. The turrets cannot traverse quickly enough to fire on most enemies, not just the fast-moving ones, and even with a wall of turrets, shield generators, and heavy tanks, you'll suffer significant losses in an average attack against your defensive lines. The variety of units is more limited than the variety of buildings that you can make, which is ridiculous in such games. The controls are terrible. Repairing buildings may or may not work. Your builders may or may not respond to instructions to build, and often just disregard build orders for some buildings while building others. All in all, this feels like an alpha build of a home-brewed game. When I saw the demos, I was reminded of Cavedog's "total annihilation" and was extremely hopeful. Instead, this is like the games that I used to see in the $5 bargain bin at a game shop and would try out, only to uninstall and dispose of. I'll be refunding this game, and never looking back. *edit: I'm still baffled why a game that was released more than a year ago is still listed as "early access".
Solid RTS, like a Mix from Starcraft and Command and Conquer. Has a lot of potential. Im looking forward for future updates and the multiplayer. The KI is very intelligent and is hard to beat - TRY IT!
