game feels very good once you get the hang of it, plus like 400 hours of content (if youre bad and cant do everything first try) - don't try for 100% if you're expecting to make consistent progress though, even early levels will trip you up for an hour or more going for the perfects/timetrials
Do you like a challenge? do you like ships? do you like gloating about beating your friends scores that they spent a lot of time doing? Well you are in luck, Thrusty Ship has plenty to keep you busy and slightly rage filled. Some maps take seconds, some takes hours to perfect. Also I highly recommend using a controller. Did i mention the different ships? you can feel an immediate difference in how they control as you discover new and more powerful ships to crush your friends hopes and dreams in the leaderboars with.
Summary: While not a game that will appeal to everyone, Thrusty Ship is a nostalgic indie gem packed with excellent level design & countless hours of fun and challenge. that will bring any retro gaming fan right back to video game memory lane. 9/10 A full detailed video review can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C_-hH31c28 Gameplay: As a whole, Thrusty Ship is a game that appeals to pretty much every typing of gamer out there. For those who like to just play through the game in a more casual manner, they can. Are you a speedrunner, Thrusty Ship has you covered. Are you a completionist or achievement hunter? It has plenty of that. Thrusty Ship has something for everyone all the while offering an addictive and very enjoyable experience, a tonne of content that most games could only dream of having along with some of the best and most intelligent and complex 2D level design I have seen in a long time. Thrusty Ship is an old-school game that gives you a nostalgic trip that will bring right back to the 90s. Atmosphere: The atmosphere of Thrusty Ship is great, with it changing depending on the environment of the level you are playing. For Apex the atmosphere takes a more laid-back approach, with its soundtrack taking a very light and airy tone while keeping with the sci-fi theme. For Magnar it takes a heavier beat approach to the music that fits in with the darker colour palette and the added difficulty. And then Hemnir just goes all out with electronic rock that works perfectly with the difficulty scaling and the general and the extremeness of the level design. You feel like you have reached the ultimate challenge and that is exactly what it gives you. The atmosphere for each of the environments is fantastic and perfectly fits with the level design and general difficulty at the point you play them and each has an equally as great soundtrack to accompany them. It is atmospheric bliss from start to finish. Conclusion: Thrusty Ship is a game that makes me realise that I am slowly but surely getting old, but it is games like this that make me happy with the fact that I am. Thrusty Ship is a game that would really only appeal and be appreciated by those of my generation and the one before me. The younger generation of today would look at it with faces of puzzlement, skip it and go back to playing Fortnite or some other form battle royale. It is a game made by a fan of the old-school way of gaming for the fans of old-school gaming. It has the challenge, it has the level design and most of all it has the gameplay all the while having a few modern twists that bring it to the next level. Thrusty Ship is one of if, not THE best-designed game I have played all year. With the sheer level of polish, the carefully created and tested level design, the huge amount of playtime available and the challenging yet brilliantly fun gameplay. Thrusty Ship is nothing short of being an absolute indie gem. An indie gem that brings you on one of the biggest nostalgia trips to the 80s and 90s you will ever experience. And with that I give Thrusty Ship a 9 out of 10.
I was given a copy of this game for early review purposes. Going in to it, I had no real expectations, but I was so surprised at how much fun this could be. The levels are progressively more difficult, and I thoroughly enjoy it. The dev listens to the players and takes the feedback to improve his game. It is well made, a good challenge, and fun to boot.
Stage design is thought out and fun. The game is challenging ,but there are plenty of explanations when a new concept is introduced. It reminds me of older arcade titles with a chill soundtrack and multiple ships to try. There is even a level editor. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
I played this live on stream, knowing full well that my lack of coordination could only result in funny content. I was not disappointed and my community got plenty of clips I have yet to live down. Thrusty ships is a well thought-out game that lets you fly a selection of ships across a range of detailed maps- when you have enough fuel. With fuel being the rare in-game resource it is, you will often find yourself missing that all-important booster by a fraction of a centimetre, only to tumble down and explode. The challenge isn't to complete the map- it's to complete it in one life. This is a challenge I accepted. This is the challenge I set out to achieve. This is the challenge I failed many times. Worth it. Definitely worth a playthrough if you love a game that breaks the mould by providing an actual challenge- enough of one to be fun, but not so much as to make you cry (maybe). If you stream get this game if you want a lot of funny clips!
Excellent game! Very fun and challenging. Extremely rewarding!
This game is awesome it has an old school feel to it and a decent steady difficulty ramp I played the Demo and that was great with quite a bit of good content I was gifted the game after a friend heard I was going to be buying it and I can tell you there is a lot of content you are missing if you just stick with the demo there is so much here it's hard to put it all well thought out design good music different ships to buy and try a robust level creator there is so much about this game that makes it a must play for me. give it a try I promise you will not be disappointed note: I was gifted this game by a friend I am in no way affiliated with inprinciple games nor was I compensated or asked to do this review in any way by anyone associated with inprinciple.
I am very picky when it comes to games because I am mainly a IRL fisherman and not a hardcore gamer. It takes something special, different, and unique to catch my attention, for example I have over 3,000 hours in The Binding of Isaac. The dev gave me a key to try this game and I told him I would give it a 1 hour time slot on stream, I ended up playing 11 hours straight. This game will test your skill, patience, and the tipping level of your rage meter. One of the best indie games I have played to date.
