About

High in the mountains, an endless train thunders through a decaying station. This is the Border Post. Your job is simple: blow a whistle to keep the train on schedule. But the air is thin up here.
Don’t speak. Don’t run. Don’t look in the train. Just do your job. It’ll all be over soon.
It isn’t impossible to breathe in the Border Post. Just impossible to catch your breath. Every exertion is another foot in the grave. Each blow of your whistle is a death sentence. Your only reprieve are air canisters rationed out for your good work. So you better be a good worker.
There’s no shortage of tasks to keep you busy during your shift. Deliver reports. Clean the water filter. Collect discarded wood. And don’t worry about that smell.
Mo is your friend and fellow Border Post worker. His shift is over, but he’ll happily come running if you call. He’ll answer any questions you might have. Well, except for that question. He wouldn’t lie to you. Don’t make him.
Your choices matter. Which choices? What country are you from? How could it matter? Experience a semi-linear narrative where every moment could be a new branching path. Or not. Such is life.

<3 https://youtu.be/thZu1n9lGt0?si=p5NwvLTnYrrUdtTo
A fun short horror game about working up in the mountain while slowly discovering secrets. Mostly a walking sim and you stay in the same area so there isn't much exploring.

narrative/story forward, adventure games, and the like are my bread and butter with video games. have played countless titles with variable story branches and outcomes at this point so i want to stress how complimentary it is when i say that Threshold has what feels like among the best decision making and otherwise player impact of nearly anything i've played? was similarly impressed with the visual and sound design here with how much the game gets out of what is in the end a relatively small area. the border post and surrounding areas high in the mountains are surprisingly dense in things to do and see. most of which again tying back in to the impact on the broader story mentioned above. played through 2.5 times to see some variances in outcome and get all the steam achievements. don't see this having endless replay value due to the nature of some of this being you know, work (by design ofc) but it's absolutely worth dipping in a few times to see what it has to offer. could see coming back to this after a decent amount of time away, for sure.
why would you play it more than once
This is a very boring game. I am sure there was hard work put into it...graphics are old which I like but its way too slow and I cannot bother to finish to because I played 2 hours didnt know how to save and lost all my progress.
I LOVE this game. In the beggining i had a major problem, i though i had softlocked myself, but i managed to resolve it. The retro visual aesthetic is soo pretty. The logic isn't complicated, and you could 100 percent it in less than 3 hours. The message it spreads is also relevant. One of the best psychological horrors I've played.
Really not that good. There's barely any gameplay and the little there is just isn't very fun. You just walk around and occasionally blow a whistle. Story is also not very interesting. Took me longer to beat than it should have because sometimes it's hard to tell where you're even supposed to walk to.
fun gameplay, bad writing
