Really enjoyed the gameplay loop, way more than I expected. Thank you Vile Scott
This guy got spun by a Quentin so he quit DBD to make games instead.
Otzdarva would approve
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3487887283 There will be a TL;DR at the end. ~ There is a difference between terror and horror, curiosity and intrigue, subtlety and mystery, confidence and certainty. Between the lines - that’s where the value of a cerebral and emotional experience comes from. This is something that creator Scott Jund demonstrates keen insight of. As someone who has followed Scott for about 5 years and endearing myself to his monologues, picking up this game was nearly obligatory. In all honesty, my expectations were balanced - I walked in both understanding that Scott is a smart guy with a creative mind, while also being humble enough to acknowledge that this is his first creation of the sort and is likely to fall into numerous beginner's pitfalls. I am delighted to have been pleasantly surprised by the competence and nuance of this little experience. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3487887518 While spoilers abound with the experience unfolding rather organically albeit bespoke to the player, there’s a lot to be immersed in with the initial plunge. If anyone out there is like me, the first leg of time will feature aimless and confused wandering while pressing the interact key on every surface and oddly shaped outcropping in blind hopes for something to proceed. It reminded me a lot of those old 90’s adventure clickers where pixel perfect accuracy and thorough ‘clikaround’-ness is needed to get the right items and clues to proceed. But after the first leg - then the second - and going on after, the experience picks up a LOT of momentum. While at the beginning I was willing to drop a 5.5/10 and walk away - I quickly was entranced to the point where I could not bring myself to leave anything well enough alone. There was always more to indulge, more to explore, experiments, judgements, different endings! Oh my! While I guessed a few of the ‘twists’ a lot of things surprised me and encouraged me to do things as I would never have anticipated. Nonetheless, it grew on me. Nothing was outside of my own abilities, I was very much engaged, there was a lot going on when I looked deeper, and the lore was conveyed beautifully. Not a lot of games with RPGMaker amount to much but garbage in my bin, but this is an eloquent creation. For $7 it’s a steal. Just remember to take a deep breath during the first segment of the game - let the waves crash over you like it’s all a dream. All that remains is finding a way to bully Otzdarva into streaming the game. ~
TL;DR
7/10 This Is Interesting is a Good game. In the end, instead of feeling a bitter taste in my mouth and reaching for the next game - as many experiences have done to me in the past - I felt very satisfied, and even happy. Good job Scott - we are all very, very proud of you.
was very fun, scott's sound designs are always great, loved the small bits of humor, an amazing job at making a movie story with so little disposition, couldn't have been happier with how it turned out. i think i needs some sort of live service battle pass system to be any better
Alright I wrote a real review and Steam kept giving me an error whenever I pressed "Post review", maybe it'll work now that I've just put this in the text box instead.
Yes. This Is Interesting ._. loopy loop.... almost like I remember..
Very reminiscent of Silent Hill. Good system that affects different endings, which are all important to get to the final true ending. Just wish there was a way to control audio in game (volume mixer did not help), and a way to naturally close the game (I had to keep using ALT+F4).
This is up there with one of my favorite rpg maker games, did not expect to find a little gem like this. Very weird, inventive and i liked figuring out what effects what. i'm on my 3rd pass rn and i already am having alot of fun for 7 dollars seems like robbery. i beat rock paper scissors first try. the 3d audio bits were freaky and really cool. i deff recommend this
