Even on normal level your enemies can take 10 sword hits or 8 arrow hits and still keep going. Garret takes 2 or three arrow or sword hits and it's curtains for him. Health potion barely improves you health status. All very frustrating!

There are good stealth games and there are great stealth games. Thief is what those games aspire to be.

I think there's several faults in Thief Gold, both introduced in Gold as well as present in the original TDP, that you absolutely can notice, but its outweighed by how sheerly impressive this was for its time. MOST* of the levels still hold up great even if they're not the greatest in the series, and it's just a really... admirable? game to me. I think ultimately 2 would later do most of the things Gold did better, but that doesnt mean this isnt worth a go. In fact I reckon appreciating 2 to its fullest capacity almost requires a playthrough of this, which by no means is a bad time either to be clear.
