There Was a Caveman is an okay 2D retro game and it’s made by the same guy who made The Inner Darkness, okay then the story. In a cave in prehistoric times a lone caveman must find himself a bride no matter how many dinosaurs, prehistoric beasts and giant monsters he must fight. So what are the likes, the gameplay is okay it does have its problems which I'll get into the dislikes, but anyway the gameplay is fairly simple fight monsters, do platforming and avoid the many traps and pits and at the end of the level fight a boss. The story is okay pretty simple nothing to write home about, it actually has some Joe and Mac vibes believe it or not, particularly at the last level. The graphics are good has a good retro aesthetic with its colors, graphics and designs. The levels are a real mixed bag I do like looks and the retro aesthetic but that's the only positive things I can really say about the levels sadly. The enemies and bosses are good each one has their own unique looks that really fit with the prehistoric vibes. The music was good fits this game very well. So what are the dislikes, the level designs are kind of bad basically it feels very cheap and poorly designed with some areas requiring near perfect precision in platforming, the worst example would be the last level. The levels are also kind of long and coupled with the hardness makes them feel even longer, they just feel like a slog to get through. Also some of the enemy placements in some of the levels particularly the last level also feels pretty cheap, again the last level is a good example of that. The game also has a knockback system which I really hate and there's no way to turn it off witch really sucks. Finally the last boss kind of sucks because it has this attack where it will shoot multiple big slime balls at you and they require a few hits to break, there's also many of them and the final boss will launch them everywhere and they'll bounce, so it can be sometimes hard to dodge. Okay with that all done, There Was a Caveman is an okay 2D retro game and it’s made by the same guy who made The Inner Darkness, it has okay gameplay, an okay story and good enemies and bosses. Now then do I recommend this game it kind of, I mean if you're interested in a Joe and Mac kind of caveman game then this could be for you.
The main reason it sucks, it's starting the game from the start every time I open the game, no "continue" and no "save"

The controls are modifiable, but the jumps you have to do over and over again, just to land on a single platform is terrible, it's like the character is accelerating, but not moving upwards; let alone just that reason I'm sorry but this is not good. Keep going with the game development, but the controls are ___ ...
