The Typing of The Dead: Overkill

10 out of 10 on so many metrics!!! the Typing of the Dead gameplay is surprisingly solid; but the mouse-based shooter dynamic of the mode HotD Overill is EXACTLY what you would hope for from the vintage arcade shooter. And the comprehensively full atmospheric immersion into a grindhouse storyline --whether in the typing or classic mouse-aiming modes of gameplay--is quite simply, a DO NOT PASS UP gaming opportunity for ANY 90s arcade gamer OR fan of mid-tier horror action. Is it hokie? Absolutely. But in a perfectly grindhouse/drive-in schlok sort of way. I have already recommended to all of the people I know who would love this. I cannot guarantee that you are of the same ilk, but those who are...this is soooooo much fun you!

Perhaps I should cut this a little slack because it's over 10 years old and doesn't play well with my 4k monitor, but I'm not going to. The game is being rewarded for typing precisely and quickly and even on sale, they should be paying me to play this. What you're buying here is the novelty of "what if a shooting game was actually a typing game?". It gets old after about 10 minutes. The game openly leans into an 80's "dumb" movie stereotype that, although I appreciate they went in SOME direction, they didn't give very much thought to the poor player who actually has to spend time with the games personality which is obnoxious at best. There's a game called Z-Type which is an in browser spaceship (space invaders) game that's the same concept but executed much better because it doesn't pretend to be more than it is.

A Touch Typing Game based on a House of The Dead game? Sounds odd but surprisingly works. There is a mode that doesn't require typing if you want more classic H.O.T.D gameplay. The story is a love letter to cheesy horror films which is a welcome element. I will 100% be playing more of this to help me improve my typing

No ultrawide support and no easy fix available online. In fact the resolution selection literally doesn't do anything in general.

This could have been one of the best HOTD versions if there was a way to change the language to PG rated or something else. I know you can lower the volume of the dialogue, but it cuts out the other sounds constantly during the dialog. Did the producers want to limit their sales on purpose?

This game has everything! Gore, Guns, a decent soundtrack... and who could forget about the obese mutant stripper with a wardrobe malfunction?

Dentro desse jogo também tem o House of the dead overkill comum, jogado com mira por meio do mouse. Achei um adicional bem legal.

Incredible game.

Lots of fun. Wish there were more games like this. No local multiplayer tho. Only online.
